

Lee J. Hoch, 83, husband of Joan (Breuer) Hoch of Boyertown passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 after a brief illness with his family close by his side. He was born in Kutztown to the late Paul and Hattie (Loch) Hoch. Lee was an education graduate of Kutztown University and received a Master of Education at Temple University. He taught elementary school for 35 years primarily in the Boyertown Area School Distric. Prior to attending college he served in the Navy at Guam during WWII. Lee was an avid golfer, hiker, camper and enjoyed crptograms and walking. Lee was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown; a Mason at Huguneot Lodge #377 and Boyertown Lodge #741, and a member of Faith Chapter #444 OES and Rajah Shrine. He was also a member of the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Boyertown. Following his retirement Lee volunteered for the Boyertown Legion Ball games and Meals on Wheels. Surviving with his wife of 56 years are two sons, William J., husband of Wendy Hoch of Liberty Hill, TX and David G., husband of Yvette Hoch of Falmouth, ME; two daughters, Marie L., wife of Simon Edwards of Chadds Ford, PA and Nancy A., wife of Arthur Adams of Exton, PA; six grandchildren, Jessica, Olivia, Stephen, Lucas, Lauren and Artie; one great-granddaughter, Sydney; three siblings, Lucille Walter, Richard Hoch and Mary Ann Schollenberger and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:45 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Sister Millicent J. Drake will officiate. A viewing will be Monday between 10 - 11 a.m in the church chapel. A Masonic service will be 11 a.m. in the church chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512.
