Born on December 7, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the second of five siblings and the oldest daughter of the late Samuel and Anna (Ochs) Cardy. She was the beloved wife of the late Mark D. Stinley, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Nancy graduated from Souderton High School in 1957. She spent her career in customer service and the ice cream industry, bringing smiles to the faces of everyone she encountered. She worked for Berman Sales Company in Pennsburg, PA, where she met her future husband, Mark. After welcoming their two children, she worked for many years at Longacre’s Dairy in Bally, PA. At the age of 47, Nancy opened her own ice cream shop in Fleetwood, PA, called Grammy’s Ice Cream. She went on to work at the Coventry Mall in Pottstown, PA, where she was employed at Amy’s Ice Cream, Baskin-Robbins, and Customer Service/Marketing, where she remained until her retirement.
Grammy was best known for the love and joy she brought to everyone around her. She was an adventurer who enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATVs, boating, water skiing, cooking, baking, gardening, dancing, party planning, and a good game of cards. Her son, David, fondly remembers her teaching him to aim steady before shooting a bow, while her daughter, Judy, remembers her homemade spaghetti sauce made with tomatoes from the garden and her homemade cream puffs. Grammy could care for five or more grandchildren at the same time, all while making it fun. There was always room for one more at Grammy’s table, one more adventure to take, and one more memory to make.
Red was her favorite color, Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she was always ready to settle in for a Hallmark Christmas movie. Nancy passed down a true and unconditional love and an unceasing joy for life and all of its adventures. In the later part of her life, she could most often be found attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events, wintering in Florida with the gals, or traveling with family. She traveled to Alaska, Canada, the Bahamas, Jamaica, across the country, and to Hawaii, always embracing the opportunity to see a new place and make another memory.
She is survived by her two children, David M. (Marsha) Stinley and Judith A. (Richard) Heller; three grandchildren, Nathan D. (Kristy) Stinley, Jessica A. (Gary) Stevens, and Rachel E. Stinley; and ten beloved great-grandchildren, Sienna (20), D’nay (19), Brianna (16), Jacob (11), Avory (11), Henry (10), Trevor (9), Raelynn (8), Ryan (7), and Makai (6). She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Adam M. Stinley and Ryan R. Farris.
She is also survived by many adoring extended family members, including Tim and Ashlie Jade of Canada, whom she loved as family; step-grandchildren, Bradley (Mary), Lora (Matthew), Molly (Greg), Katie, and Jessie (Thomas); and step-great-grandchildren, Ariana, Abigail, Everett, Kayley, Rosalie, and Liam.
