

Born in Gabelsville, he was the son of the late Emma C. W. (Keim) and William R. Minninger.
He was a 1952 graduate of Boyertown High School; a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown. A life member of the Gabelsville A.A., Boyertown Rod and Gun Club and the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Boyertown. A social member of the Orioles, Liberty Fire Company, New Berlinville, Bally Fire Company and the P.O.S. of A.. Rich was a baseball umpire for 20 years for various leagues; trained Sulky Racing Horses. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was in the Air Force National Guard for eight years during peacetime. Rich worked as a lineman for 40 years for the local IBEW #126 retiring in 1997.
Surviving with his wife of 54 years (Married May 14, 1955) are two daughters, Christine J. Reazor fiancee of Michael Schmoyer of Boyertown and Donna J., wife of Mark Zeleznick of Gilbertsville; a son, Robert A., husband of Michele (Chiappardi) Zeleznick of Minninger of Spring City; a mother-in-law, Dorothy (Sheetz) Reidenauer of Gilbertsville; a sister, Shirley, widow of LeRoy Heydt of Boyertown; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by two brothers William Minninger and Carl R. "Butch" Minninger and a sister, Grace Minninger.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. The Reverend John G. Pearson will officiate.
A viewing will be Monday between 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown.
