Born in Gablesville, PA. he was a son of the late Florence (Moyer) and Lewis Mecherly.
Robert graduated from Boyertown High School Class of 1956.
He worked for several local building contractors, as an equipment operator for the Electrical Workers Union IBEW 126. Then he worked as a welder at Limerick Nuclear Power Plant, he spent the last 30 years as an insurance agent for the Richard Burkett Agency.
Robert was a life member of the Gabelsville Athletic Association, New Berlinville Fire Co., Bally Fire Co., Keystone Fire Co, and the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Co.
He was an avid Hunter, Coach and Sports Fan. As well as a hard worker and loyal friend.
Robert is survived by his nephew Terry L. husband of Denise K. Ellex of Boyertown. A great nephew Dustin J. Ellex of Pennsburg. A sister in law, Dorothy A. widow of Harold Mecherly. He is predeceased by his brother William. Sisters, Lois Ellex and Vivian Moyer.
Family and friends may call at the Gabelsville Baseball Field on Sunday August 29, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
