

He is the husband of Miriam D. (Hefton)Stitt.
Born in Henrietta, PA. He was the last surviving son of the late Ruth (Shuman) and Stewart Stitt.
He served in WWII in the US Army in the Pacific Theater as a private in the 819 Recon Tank Division. He also attended the gathering of his division over the years.
Wilmer was a member of Colebrookdale Chapel and served on the board of directors, he was a member of the Christian Camping Club for 10 years. He was a truck driver working for West Motor Freight for 30 years and Kemner Motor Freight for 10 years. Also Wilmer was a board member and volunteer at the Boyertown Youth Center and he was active in the American Legion.
He is survived by his children, M.Diane wife of Mark R. Herbst of Pottstown. Carl W. husband of Sherry L. Stitt of Temple. Bonnie M. wife of J. Douglas Hallman Sr. of Snydertown. Allen D. husband of Brenda L. Stitt of Wernersville. Eric T. husband of Denise Stitt of West Lawn and Zina L. wife of Edward Gavin of Pottstown. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild on the way. Wilmer is predeceased by a son Terry L. Stitt and a brother Ervin “Boyd” Stitt.
Funeral services will be held at Colebrookdale Chapel 2108 Farmington Ave. Boyertown, PA. 19512 on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM. You may show your respect at the church Monday from 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contribution may be made in Wilmer’s name to the Colebrookdale Chapel.
