Anne Mirgain Langford, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida following a sudden medical event. She was surrounded by her loving husband George and daughters Jennie and Julie.
Born on July 29, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Anne was the beloved daughter of Adeline and Robert Mirgain. After losing her father at age 4, she was also raised with love by her stepfather, Frank Vavrik, aunt Anne Everett, and grandfather Eugene Schwertzig. Anne graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago and went on to earn a degree in education from Northern Illinois University.
Anne shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband George. Together they built a life centered around love, family, and faith. She is survived by George; their daughters Jennie (John) and Julie (Steve); and five cherished grandchildren: Nicholas, Luke, Adeline, Lilly and Rosie. She also leaves behind her brother Robert (Co) Mirgain and several cousins. Anne was preceded in death by her parents Adeline and Robert Mirgain, her stepfather Frank Vavrik, and her brother Edward Vavrik.
From a young age, Anne embraced life with joy, enthusiasm, and passion. As a girl growing up in Chicago, she loved attending sock hops and taking the bus to the Lake Michigan beach. She also modeled for a local department store—an early sign of her grace and poise.
Anne’s dedication to others was evident throughout her life. As a wife and mother, she poured herself into supporting her family and community. She spent countless hours volunteering at schools where her daughters attended—so many that she earned an award recognizing her tireless efforts. Her generosity extended beyond the classroom; she helped lead an exercise class for local women and became known among friends and family as a gourmet chef whose meals brought people together.
Family vacations were another hallmark of Anne’s legacy. She had a gift for organizing unforgettable trips that created lasting memories for those she loved most. Whether planning every detail or simply soaking in the joy of being together, Anne made each journey special.
Anne's Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A lifelong active member of the Church, she found strength in prayer and community worship. Her devotion never wavered; it shaped how she lived—with compassion, humility, and unwavering belief.
Through most of her adult live, Anne found peace walking along Siesta Key beach—a place where the rhythm of the waves mirrored the calm strength she carried within herself. It was there that she often reflected on life’s blessings with gratitude.
Devoted to her family, loyal to her friends, firm in her faith—Anne Langford leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
