Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Fanchi; her sister, Elvea Kelly; and her parents, Clara and Carmine Scalzitti. She is survived by her children, Lynn Nucci and Ken Fanchi (Lisa); Lynn’s fiance, Ray Rowland; and her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Nucci, Genna Nucci, and Colin Fanchi.
At the age of nine, Carol immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from DePaul University in 1960. Throughout her life, Carol embraced many roles — teacher, real estate broker, and executive recruiter — each reflecting her energy, compassion, and talent for connecting with people. She was always involved in her community, volunteering generously and taking part in clubs, activities, and a lively social circle.
Carol was an extraordinary wife, mother, and friend who delighted in hosting holiday gatherings and family tennis tournament reunions. In retirement, she found joy in playing tennis, traveling, volunteering, spending time with loved ones, and enthusiastically driving her grandchildren to their many activities. She loved helping others and would do anything for anybody. Her warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit enriched the lives of everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
A private ceremony was held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.
