Cory Phillip Root, 48, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Born on October 15, 1977, in Rochester, New York, Cory brought light and laughter into the lives of those around him with his charming, caring, and witty personality.
Cory was a devoted husband to Marissa Lee-Root and a loving father to his children: daughter Chaya Root and son Declan Root. He also embraced his role as a stepfather to Madelyn Lee and Kayla Lee, sharing in their lives with warmth and dedication.
He was the beloved son of Douglas Root and the late Beth Ann Gibson. Cory is also survived by his sister Rachel Root Kranitz and her husband Adam Kranitz.
A memorial service honoring Cory’s life will be held in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 27, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, Florida 34211.
