Born on November 10, 1980, in Cleveland, Ohio to Jim and Tracie Harwood, David grew up in Medina, Ohio and Bradenton, Florida. He graduated from Bayshore High School in Bradenton and Florida State University. He went on to become a very successful entrepreneur and owned Liberty Realty and Management.
David was known for lighting up a room, entertaining, organizing, and genuinely having a good time wherever he went. His dedication to family was unwavering, he was extraordinarily great with children, and he had a quiet generosity that touched everyone who knew him. He enjoyed playing slot machines and tables games, boating and fishing trips, and was a huge FSU fan.
David is survived by his parents, brothers Jimmy Harwood (Summer) and Jeff Harwood (Natasha), nieces and nephews Landen, Meadow, Starlie, Ryker, Sophia, and Maya, as well as his long-time best friend and fellow FSU alum, Mike Cribbs and his family. David was also close with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives, friends, and colleagues. He will be deeply missed by all.
After a private family gathering, a celebration of life (FSU themed, as he would want) will be held at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, FL 34211, on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 2–5PM, with a memorial service starting at 2:30PM. Food and refreshments will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, ipawrescue.org, or another charity of your choice.
