Grant Williams, 29, of Lithia, Florida, passed away on July 1, 2026. Born on October 29, 1996, in Holland, Michigan, Grant lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family, friends, and country.
Grant graduated from Newsome High School in 2015. A talented wrestler for the Newsome Wolves during his high school years, he exemplified discipline and determination both on and off the mat. After graduation, Grant answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. As a triple volunteer, he joined the Army, completed airborne training, and endured the rigorous selection process for the prestigious 75th Ranger Regiment. Grant’s commitment to excellence led him to graduate from Ranger School in Class 3-18 as a Private First Class. Rising to the rank of Sergeant (SGT E-5), he served as a Fire Team Leader in the 3rd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division. A combat veteran of Afghanistan, Grant earned his Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Combat patch during his deployment. He completed his military service with honor and was honorably discharged in 2020 after years of selfless dedication.
Following his military service, Grant pursued higher education while continuing to work in construction—a field that allowed him to combine his love for the outdoors with his strong work ethic. He earned an associate degree from Hillsborough County Community College in 2023 and was diligently working toward a Bachelor of Science in engineering. His passion for learning and perseverance was evident in every endeavor he undertook.
Grant’s life was enriched by his many hobbies and interests. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, he found joy in saltwater fishing—whether wading through Tampa Bay or kayaking the open ocean alongside his father. He maintained a rigorous physical fitness regimen throughout his life, excelling in endurance sports, jiu-jitsu, and boxing. At family gatherings, Grant’s quick wit and intellect often made him victorious during board games—a testament to his sharp mind and playful spirit.
Grant’s faith played a central role in shaping his character. His love of God guided him to treat others with kindness and grace. Known for his humility and ability to rise above conflict, he was a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one. His unwavering loyalty and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Grant is survived by his loving parents, Dax and Angela Williams; his siblings, Taylor Williams, Drew Williams, and Chandler Williams (Kacey); his grandmothers, Toni McDonald and Susan Koning; aunts and uncles, Meca, Brittany, Sean, Lionel, and Karlwin. He was predeceased by his great-grandparents Thomas and Mamie Taylor as well as John and Dorothy Koning.
To those who knew him best, Grant will be remembered as a man of kindness, strength, loyalty, and deep love for family. His protective heart reflected not only in his military service but also in the way he cared for those around him.
