Larry Dale Simmons

After serving in the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant, Larry went on to work as a Long Island Railroad Police Officer. He was an active member of the Grand Knight and Color Core Commander, Saints Cosmas & Damian Council #13341.

Larry was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and grandfather. He always put his family and friends above his own needs. Larry was a frequent Eucharist Minister at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. He played golf weekly with his Knights of Columbus buddies and occasionally with his wife Sandy. Larry was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to help when needed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra; loving sons, Dennis Simmons (Linda) and Jamie Simmons (Theresa); sisters, Nancy Douty and Diane Bellow; and his cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Madison, Abigail, Alexander, and Cassidy. Besides his parents, Larry is also preceded in death by his brothers, Terry and Richard Simmons.

A funeral mass for Larry will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 12905 State Rd 70 E, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202. Following the funeral mass will be a graveside service with military honors at 12:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Simmons, Jamie Simmons, Kyle Simmons, Alexander Simmons, Douglas Negretti and Gerard Negretti.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saints Cosmas & Damian Council #133341, 12905 E SR 70, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202.
