

Born on April 29, 1947, in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, Mexico, Leoncio was the son of Jose and Antonia Villasenor. He moved to the United States at the age of 12 and graduated from Belmont High School in 1966. Following his education, he was drafted into the United States Army and was deployed to South Korea, assigned to the Headquarters Battery, Second Batallion, First Artillery Regiment, Eighth Army. He served as a Field Radio Repairman and was honorably discharged as a Specialist (E-5). After departing the Army he went on to be an electrician working for Southern California Edison as one of their first minority hires and then went onto work at Todd Shipyards. It was as a member of the International Longshoremen’s Work Union Local 13 where he ultimately found his purpose. After 44 years of proud service as a stevedore he retired at the age of 74.
Leoncio was known for his sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. His unique personality left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
He was pre-deceased by his eldest son, Leon Gabriel Villasenor Jr., and is survived by his loving sons, Armando Xavier Villasenor (Virginia), and Alejandro Cuauhtemoc Villasenor (Ariadna). He was a devoted grandfather to Christopher, Gabriel, Jennifer, Briana Solei, Paris, Dominic, Samantha, Jade, Jasmine, Fabian, and Jalen; and a great-grandfather to Gabriel Jr., Christopher Jr., Emric, Ezriah, and Jeremiah. Leoncio is also survived by his siblings Maria, Genoveva, Enrique, and Antonia. Leoncio is remembered by his extended family, coworkers and union brothers and sisters.
