

Lane Hartle passed away at her home in Sarasota on May 26, 2026. She was born in 1936 in Warsaw, Indiana to Ruth Harmon and R.B. “Ted” Williams. She attended elementary schools in Warsaw and graduated from Sarasota High School. She edited the school’s newspaper, The Sarasotan, participated in Sailor Circus, and was class treasurer two years.
Lane attended Tulane University’s Newcomb College where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She married Horace A. Norrell, Jr. in 1956, living in New Orleans, Lexington, Kentucky, and moving to Sarasota in 1972. She was active in Boy Scouts of America, and was a DAR and a Presbyterian.
Lane married Hal M. Hartle in 1988. They resided in Boca Grande, Florida, Sarasota, and Warsaw, Indiana. Lane was publisher of the Reub Williams & Sons newspaper The Warsaw Times-Union until 2016. The Times-Union was founded by Lane’s great grandfather in 1854.
Lane is survived by her husband Hal Hartle, sons Mark Norrell of Bloomington, Indiana (Susan), and Clifton Norrell of Malibu, California (Michelle), grandchildren Logan, Sam, Ava, and Keira Norrell, and daughter-in-law Brenda Colonius. She was predeceased by son Craig Norrell of Warsaw, Indiana.
Lane was a breast cancer survivor since 1996, and was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019. The family wishes to thank to the caregivers and staff at Tidewell Hospice for their compassionate end-of-life care, as well as Lane’s many close friends for their support.
Services will be private and burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana in the Williams' family section. The family requests no flowers.
