Paul R. Ryden

Paul R. Ryden, born on November 24, 1939, in Gladwin, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida. At the age of 86, Paul left behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Paul was the beloved husband of Joyce Ryden and father to his daughter Joni Ryden and son Craig Ryden. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Carl Ryden, as well as his brother Carl Ryden and brothers-in-law Joseph Welter and Steven Welter. He is lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

A man of remarkable professional accomplishments, Paul was the Owner and President of Plum Harris Insurance Agency. As a Certified and Licensed Insurance Agent, he built a respected career in the insurance industry. His leadership extended beyond his business endeavors; he was an active member of several professional organizations, including Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch, PIA and MAIA. Paul also founded the Computer Users Group and served as President of the Bay City Noon Optimist Club. His commitment to community service was evident in his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Lutheran Child and Family Services of Michigan (Wellspring Lutheran Services) where he worked tirelessly to support families in need.

Paul lived most of his life in Bay City and Boyne City, Michigan before retiring in Bradenton, Florida. He found joy in traveling, boating, golfing, gardening, and indulging his enthusiasm for cars and airplanes. A dedicated member of his Lutheran church, Paul’s faith guided him throughout his life and inspired his unwavering generosity and compassion.

Known for being caring and kind-hearted, Paul was always available to lend a helping hand to friends or anyone in need. His warmth and selflessness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 16, 2026, from 11:00 – 12:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, FL 34211. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Paul to Wellspring Lutheran Services, 6019 West Side Saginaw Road, Bay City, Michigan 48706; Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch, Main Street, Lakewood Ranch 34202.
