Ronald Lee Grimwood, 81, of Lakewood Ranch passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024. Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years Valarie, his sons Steve (Erin) and Scott (Susan), his daughter Stacey, his grandchildren Samantha, Seth, Zachary, Stephanie, Shane, Aubrey, Kaylee, Rylee, great grandchildren Campbell and Maisie, his brother Jerry (Heather) and sister Donna (Jack). He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Norma Grimwood.
Ron was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 30, 1942. He attended Lansing Everett High School where he graduated in 1960. Ron was a member of the high school track team as a high jumper. High jumping earned him a scholarship to Western Michigan University where he graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
Ron was an avid golfer, he loved to read and especially loved birdwatching on his pool deck. The only thing he loved more than the Florida State Seminoles, Wingate University Lacrosse and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was his family. His greatest joy was cheering for his children and grandchildren in whatever sport, concert or ceremony he attended. He was an extremely proud father and papa.
Ron was a beacon of selflessness and love. He was a friend to all and had the capacity to bring joy and a smile to those around him. His parting leaves an unfillable void in our lives, but we find comfort in the memories, love and knowledge that one day we will see him again.
Please join us as we celebrate the life of Ron on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:00 am at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, Florida 34211. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society or Special Olympics of Michigan.
