

Ron graduated from De La Salle Collegiate High School in Detroit and earned a Bachelor’s degree from the Detroit College of Business. He built a distinguished career in banking, holding positions at Manufacturers Bank of Detroit, Automatic Data Processing, and First National Bank of Chicago. He retired from Chase Bank, where he was responsible for Business Continuity for the bank’s Retail operations across North America.
Ron lived in Powell, Ohio for over 30 years before relocating to Lakewood Ranch, Florida five years ago. He was deeply involved in his community through his work with the Rotary Club and as a Big Brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He also participated actively in the Business Continuity Planners Association and the United Methodist Men’s group in Ohio.
Ron had a zest for life that touched everyone around him. He loved golf and took annual Fall trips with friends. A skilled handyman, he enjoyed home improvement projects and found joy in music and dancing. He cherished time spent camping and traveling with family and friends and proudly celebrated his Polish heritage by preparing traditional holiday meals that became beloved traditions.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kowal; children Andrea Lienard (Bryan), Leonard Kowalkowski (Debbie), and Alexander Kowal; grandchildren Jake and Elise Kowalkowski; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Diane and John Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Michaeline Maczka.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 6:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Sarasota, FL 34236. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
The memory of Ron's quick wit, kindness, generosity and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
