Ro was born May 1, 1936, in Baltimore, MD near Pimlico Race Track, to a very close-knit Italian-American family. Her parents were Carmelina Josephine DiPaula Restivo and Joseph Francis Restivo. She graduated from Maryvale Preparatory School in Lutherville, MD in 1953 and Villa Julie College (later called Stevenson University) in Stevenson, MD.
Ro worked as a medical secretary for orthopedic surgeons at Johns Hopkins Hospital and at the University of Maryland Medical School. During this time, she met her future husband, Theodore “Ted” Francis Maggelet, of Canton, MA. They got married on September 2, 1961, in Baltimore. Ted served in the Artillery and Military Intelligence branches of the U.S. Army for 22 years with tours including Vietnam, Germany and several U.S. bases. Ro was a devoted and loving military spouse who embraced the joys and challenges of military life with enthusiasm and dedication. She was an active volunteer with numerous Officers’ Spouses’ Clubs to welcome, support and acclimate new families to base life.
Ro’s life was enriched by her many hobbies and interests, including traveling to Hawaii and Europe, baking and decorating cakes, sewing, painting and creating ceramics. After her husband’s retirement from the Army and his second career as a Defense consultant, Ro and Ted relocated from Silver Spring, MD to Bradenton, FL in 2004. She was also an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Bradenton and enjoyed participating in its weekly patriotic Rosary. However, her greatest joy and pride was her family. She created lasting memories by hosting birthday parties, holidays and special occasions, where laughter and togetherness became treasured traditions.
She is survived by her three children: Joseph Maggelet of Largo, FL; Charles Maggelet of Park City, UT; and Lorraine See (Kenneth See) of Bradenton, FL; and her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Marty Keegan of Annapolis, MD, and Isabelle Maggelet of Plymouth, MA, in addition to many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 5-7pm at Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 12905 State Road 70 East, Lakewood Ranch at 10:30am, followed by burial at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota at 1pm. A reception in her memory will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Ro’s memory to Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, or Wounded Warrior Project.
