Teddy Mao, born in Hong Kong on October 12 1952, passed away in Bradenton, Florida on July 7, 2026. At the age of three, Teddy immigrated to the United States with his family and grew up in Huntington, New York, where he met his future wife, Nancy, while they were in high school.
Teddy built a successful career as a commodities analyst, trader, and broker, earning the respect of colleagues through his knowledge and integrity. He was known as one of the top grain specialists in the business. While he had many professional accomplishments, his greatest pride was always his family.
A lifelong golf enthusiast, Teddy loved spending time on the course with friends and enjoying the camaraderie the game brought. He was known for his generous spirit, easygoing nature, and effortlessly cool personality. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his warmth, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Above all, Teddy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a lifetime of love with his wife, Nancy, and together they raised two daughters, Elizabeth and Susan. Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Gung Gung” to his four beloved grandchildren—Kenzie, Max, Gray, and Ella. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with them and was immensely proud of each of them.
Teddy’s legacy is one of love, generosity, quiet strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to those he cared about. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Nancy; his daughters, Elizabeth and Susan; his sons-in-law, Rob and Matt; his cherished grandchildren, Kenzie, Max, Gray, and Ella; and the many family members and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
The family will share memorial service information at a later date. Though he is no longer with us, Teddy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
