Thomas Gerard Kinisky

September 26, 1955 – May 30, 2025
Obituary of Thomas Gerard Kinisky
IN THE CARE OF

Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center

Thomas G. Kinisky passed away May 30, 2025 at age 69 surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on September 26, 1955 to Thomas and M. Rosemary Kinisky.

Tom began his 45 year career in R&D and eventually moved into management. He worked for Union Carbide, Norton Company, and Saint-Gobain. Tom held 5 US patents and was the author of a number of scientific articles. He retired in 2020 from Saint-Gobain after 30 years with the company as a member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of North America, and the Chief Innovation and Technology Officer. Tom's global work responsibilities along with various vacations with Mary Anne and family gave him the chance to visit nearly 70 countries and to have a lot of memorable experiences including living with the family in Paris.

Tom was an avid golfer and belonged to the Lakewood Ranch Country Club and Ballston Spa Country Club. He and Mary Anne had a quest to play the top 100 US golf courses. They were able to play more than 60 of them. But, one of his favorite golf events was playing with his son, TJ, in the Member/Guest tournaments at Lakewood Ranch.

Tom was also very active in thoroughbred horse racing. Over his lifetime he owned shares in more than 80 different horses taking him to various race tracks across the country and to some of the top races, highlighted by a Breeder’s Cup win in 2021. But Saratoga Race Course was naturally his favorite place, and he was lucky enough to have many winners there as well.

Tom also loved to have a project going - whether it was remodeling the family home, his daughter's, or his son's, building furniture, huge train layouts, dollhouses, elaborate Halloween costumes, or planning family vacations, he seemed to always have something in the works.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Anne (née Ryan), his children Sarah (John Varga) and TJ (Courtnay), his beloved grandson Jack, his sister Denys Kinisky, his brothers and sisters in law: Mike & Kathy Ryan, Nora & Rich Murphy, Tom & Sue Ryan, Joe & Athena Ryan, Ellen Ryan, and his many cherished nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 11am until 1pm at Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, FL 34211. The family invites guest to dress in casual or golf attire.
