January 15, 1944 – November 15, 2020
Barry MACKINTOSH “Mack” passed away suddenly from an unforeseen illness on November 15, 2020 at Brampton Civic Hospital. He passed peacefully. Born on January 15, 1944 in Manchester England, son of the late Ronald and Lucy Mackintosh (nee Stack), predeceased by his brother, Brian, sister, Sandra, and nephews, Little Brian and Jeff. He is survived by his twin brother Ian (Dorothy) of Gananoque and sister in law Peggy of Trenton. Always a doting Dad to his daughters Tamara and Stephanie (Troy) and a proud Poppa to his 4 grandchildren Bradey (Apple), Ty (Tiger), Megan (Meggie) & Jake (Jakey) and a Loving Uncle to Sandra, Dale, Allan and Tracy. Will be missed by his life partner Valerie and the mother of his children Bonnie. He was also a devoted friend to many. Served as a RCAF Military Police Officer in Germany in the 60’s, he then went on to graduate McMaster University to become a Gym Teacher. Barry attended Fire College in the 70’s, and worked for the Etobicoke Fire Department as Fire Prevention Officer finishing his 30+ year career as a Fire Marshall for the City of Toronto. He was a lifelong fan of Golf (The Masters), and The Toronto Maple Leafs. Always his grandchildren’s #1 fan, he made sure to never miss a hockey, soccer, baseball game, dance recital or the opportunity to caddy for his youngest grandson. After retiring from the Fire Department Barry wanted to become a Golf Instructor however, he decided to become a snowbird travelling to various Southern destinations like South Carolina, Florida, and Texas to play golf. Barry always had a love for life and “Live in the Moment” mentality, his motto was “If it doesn’t fit in my car, I don’t need it” and as he would want us to... we will smile whenever we think of him and feel the love. He was and always will be looking out for his grandchildren. The family will have a Celebration of Life, honouring Barry, in the Summer of 2021. Polish up your clubs, it will be at a Golf Course. He is now resting in Peace with his parents, brother, sister, and 2 nephews.

I have such fond memories of Barry - growing up friends with Stephanie and Tammy through middle and high school.
He was always lots of fun and one of the “dads” that felt more like a kid! He had a real zest for life. I know just how much love there was in the family as he was such a big presence in your lives. I’m so sorry for your loss, my condolences.

Barry definitely was one of a kind. Some of his friends and I used to say "you're something else" He loved it. He did life his way...living life in the moment and ready to go. He was very proud and loved his "girls" Tammy and Stephanie so very much and over the moon with love for his grandkids. I enjoyed many times and experiences with Barry including time down south. How he hated winters. So many fabulous memories. He will always be in my heart. Love Val xoxo
