It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the Logan family announce the death of Douglas Logan, at home with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Carolyn Logan (nee Harvey). Lovingly remembered by his son Scott and his wife Lynne. Cherished by grandsons James and Connor. Dear older brother to Dave (Whitehorse, YT), Jack and his wife Carol (Devon, AB), and Jim (predeceased). Doug is affectionally remembered by his many relatives and friends and will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
Doug enjoyed a 35 year career in teaching, starting in a one room schoolhouse near Mildmay, ON. After 2 years, he moved to Peel Region where he taught in the senior grades for the rest of his career.
A collector at heart, Doug has travelled the world finding breweriana items to add to his collection. Through his membership in various organizations, such as Brewery Collectibles of America and Canadian Collectors of Brewery Advertising, he developed treasured relationships with fellow collectors, who became close friends.
As a lifelong sports fan, Doug achieved a goal of attending a game in every major league baseball park and several minor league ones, as well. He was very happy when the Blue Jays came to Toronto.
In the last few years, he developed another collection consisting of schedules from baseball and hockey teams. Many hours have been spent organizing them in binders and sharing extras with other collectors.
Doug was proud to have grown up in Brussels and shared many stories of life in “Ontario’s Prettiest Village”. He kept in touch with his hometown through his weekly reading of The Citizen and his membership in the local Legion branch.
Special thanks to Dr. Conter, Dr. Yeung, Dr.Dosani and the nurses and clerical staff of Brampton Civic Hospital Oncology and Palliative Care Departments, as well as Florence, our home care nurse.
Due to current restrictions, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the William Osler Health System Foundation (Brampton Civic Hospital) or to the charity of your choice.
