Survived by his loving wife Lynn Surette for 26 wonderful years.

Beloved father to Wendy (Andrew Mawhinney)and Melanie (Matthew Makischuk).

Cherished grandfather to Jarrod, Jacob & Lauren.

Dear siblings Huguette Filippi, Helene (Joe Pisterzi), Louise (Omer Gravel), Madeleine (Jean Cossette), Michel Richard (Erika), Marcel, late Jean Guy, late Gilberte Valdes and late Michel.

Adored by many nieces and nephews.

He was born on October 27, 1949 in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, Quebec to the late Joachim and Claire Gagne.

He lived his life to the fullest every day. In addition to his extended family, Fernandez will be dearly missed by many friends and neighbors.

Fernandez started working at a young age in a restaurant for the Robert family in Louiseville, QC and developed a passion for cooking food. He trained as a butcher, progressively moving through roles of a meat cutter to the Manager of the meat department. His career spanned 45 years in Ontario as a member of UFCW 633, working for Steinbergs, Miracle Food Mart, A&P, Dominion & Metro as well as Cargill Foods.

Throughout his lifetime, his favourite activities included: bowling in organized ten pin leagues, playing Bingo, dancing with everyone and anyone he could get on their feet, watching movies, following the Montreal Canadiens, cooking for family and friends and spending time at his trailer, enjoying coffee with the guys, playing dice and washers. His sense of humour and enjoyment of life enabled him to make life long friendships with a vast array of people.

A visitation for Fernandez will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4pm-8pm at Andrews Community Funeral Centre - Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, ON. A Celebration of Life service will take place in the Chapel of the funeral home at 11am on Friday, December 1, 2023, with visitation 1 hour prior to service. A private cremation will follow.
