Passed away peacefully at 92, on May 8, 2016 after a brief illness in Brampton Civic Hospital. Frank's warm smile and good nature will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Barbara Bowlby (nee Brooker). Loving father of Heather and her husband Roy Thomson and Peter Bowlby and his wife Donna. Cherished grandfather of Sarah (Michael Hughson) and Kenneth, (Katherine) Thomson and Grace and Shannon Bowlby, great-grandfather of four. Uncle to four nieces and two nephews. Great uncle to seven.
Predeceased by loving sister Marion Thorburn (July 2014).
Frank had a full life with a great marriage to Barbara, the love of his life. They were blessed with two children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Frank always had time for family, whether it was a family gathering for dinner or Christmas in Barbados, he was a man who loved his family and was loved by all.
Frank was proud to have been in the Armed Forces during World War II, serving as a forward artillery observer, going up in small airplanes to detect the enemies position and help direct shelling. Frank worked as a flight dispatcher for TCA/Air Canada for more than 40 years. He was always generous with his knowledge and experience when training younger dispatchers learning the ropes. Frank not wanting to sit around after he retired from Air Canada while Barb was still working, took a job with the Ontario court system. For over 10 years he enjoyed watching the justice system at work and all the little nuances within the system.
If you turned on the television at Frank's house you could bet it would be tuned to one of the sports channels. Frank was an avid sports fan enjoying the Blue Jays as well as the Argo's and yes even the Toronto Maple Leafs. Frank was a man of many talents, he enjoyed golf, tennis and he curled in the winter time and even coached his son's baseball team in his younger years. Frank loved to go swimming at the racquetball club to stay fit.
A celebration of life will be held on May 28, 2016 from 1 PM and 3:30 PM at Andrews community funeral Center, 8190 Dixie Rd., Brampton Ontario L6T5N9.
If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
