Dear Pop,

I remember as a kid coming to visit with you and Gran and you would always have a smile on your face and try and make me laugh. You are the kindest man I've ever known and I'm sorry I didn't get to kiss you goodbye. I'll always miss you, I've always loved you. Rest in peace.

George so sorry to hear of your passing, the times that we spent together both here in Glasgow & in Toronto were very special. Your kindness to myself Cathy, Paul & Michelle will always be remembered. I'am sorry I never got to see you laterally, but yourself & the rest of the family have been in my thoughts in recent years.

" Uncle George " we were so sad to hear of your passing and it has brought back many memories especially of your visits to Scotland with my auntie Ruby.  I think the biggest memory I have is the joy you brought to my mum and how she enjoyed the times that you spent together.    We all looked forward to your visits.   You had a larger than life personality and showed great kindness to us all.  You were a big part of our extended familly and we will  remember you always with great fondness Paul, Marlene & Family.

My memories of you are all SingSongs and Smiles:)  Thank you for being a great part of my life and giving me Amazing childhood memories.

Rest In Peace Uncle George X

Hi uncle George, sorry to hear that you have left us, although your gone, all our memories keep you here, I always remember when you would visit with aunt Ruby & you would bring your BIG video camera that I thought was so cool or when you would collect me from school & give me some of your "Canadian" chewing gum. I know wherever you are, you are free from your illness & back to the "BIG" uncle George we all know and love.

George,you were a Gentleman and a Scholar,although we were all many miles away you were always in our thoughts,now my friend you will always be in our hearts .Farewell GEORGE MITCHELL on your journey up that Stairway to Heaven....John & Ellen & family xx

You didn't die just recently,
You died some time ago.
Although your body stayed a while,
And didn't really know.

For you had got Altzheimer's,
You failed to comprehend.
Your body went on living.
But your mind had reached its end.

So we've already said, "Goodbye",
To the person that we knew.
The person that we trully loved,
The person that was, "You".

You will be fine up in heaven Uncle George, you will be greeted at the gates by wee Jessie and my wee Gran Rita, they will look after and I can only imagine the stories you's have to tell each other up there, it will be full of laughter I am sure, give my wee gran a hug for me. RIP Uncle George, GBNF Celtic will win the league on Sunday and we will all party for you! xxx

George you will be sadly missed you were such a gentleman had fun in Glasgow when you were here listening to all your lovely songs what great memories we have always .   Tommy Carol Clark.

George, the Clark family over I Scotland will always cherish fond memories of your good will & kindness, you looked after aunty Ruby really well.when you came over our mum Rita was always looked after also, day trips to Troon& nights out in the genie pub for all the good singers, not forgetting you were a big big Celtic supporter,we will miss you rip, Christopher Clark.

George, you came into our lives over 30 years ago now and brought us lots of fun and laughter. Your zest for life and hard work ethic were an inspiration for us all. "A kind big soul", wee Jessie often said. 
As in the song I heard you sing so often "Some days are diamonds, some days are stones" and sadly we have lost another diamond.

George,

What can I say about the man who came into my Mum's life as a friend, became a companion and then a loving husband...what can I say about the man who came into my life as my Mum's husband, became a friend, then turned into my second Dad?
I can say this, the day you asked me how I would feel if you married my Mum and I replied that I would like that very much was the day I started loving you.

I looked up to you, you were a man of great character, with a kind and caring heart, a believer in doing the right thing and you never just talked the talk, you walked the walk.  You were thoughtful, compassionate and sincere, you were also honest, devoted and loyal.  I could always count on you, you never let me down and you never took, more than you gave.

You had a quick wit and could sing like there was no tomorrow, how I wish I could hear you just one more time Pop.

You told me years later, that when I welcomed you into our family, that I made you very happy, well Pop, you added more to my life than you could ever know.  I already had a Dad but it was pretty cool that I got to have you too and although your intent was never to fill my Dad's shoes, I just couldn't help but love you and I thank you for loving me back.

As much as I miss you...and I do miss you, I can honestly say, I am so happy for you, I'm happy that you are free from your disease, that you are no longer trapped inside your body and in your wheelchair, cause I imagine right around now, you're young again, with a song in your heart, a skip in your step and your strolling arm in arm with Janet and you're smiling once again.

Pop, 

you were an amazing husband to my gran, step father to my mom and grandfather to me and Samantha. Although losing you has been hard on all of us, you are in a better place now and we know that, and we are happy and thankful to know that. Thank you for helping to make my childhood as good as it was, I still remember laughing away in the living room, and never being able to leave without you slipping a toonie in my pocket everytime, i'll never forget and i'll always cherish the memories I had with you. Rest in paradise Pop, thinking of you always. I love you. xoxo.

Pop,

You were my friend, dad, and only grandfather...Although I have missed you for sometime now, the fact that I will never see your smiling face again saddens me. I thank you for all the things you introduced me too, and all the memories you have left me with. I know you are with loved ones now and in a way I am glad you can now remember all the things that have been missing these past years. Please give Ryan a hug for me and let him know I am thinking of both of you. I love you!  Kyle

I love you daddy and have missed you for such a long time.  Alzheimer's took you away years ago.  I have so many fond memories that will stay in my heart forever.  You brought us to Canada to give us a better life and worked hard so that we could have a great family vacation every year while growing up.  You raised us to believe that people who swore had a poor command of the english language.  Growing up we never heard bigotry or racial comments uttered in our house.  You had a great sense of humour and a lovely singing voice.  You, like your father, had a gentle spirit and avoided confrontation.  You were a loyal Celtic supporter, a brilliant inventor and a friend to many.  I will be there to see your ashes spread under the tree where you met mom just as you wanted and I will miss you forever.   Joy
