Heinz Walter Meiners

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Heinz Walter Meiners on Wednesday March 2, 2016 at Brampton Civic hospital. Beloved husband of predeceased wife Hildegard and father of Angelika, Mona (Glenn), Ron and Ray (Sue). Cherished Opa to Nadine (Kevin), Derek (Sarah), Mark (Ewa), Scott, Eric and Brett as well great-grandchildren Ava and Kaleb. Heinz will also be greatly missed by his loving and caring partner Waltraud Poppe, his sister Jutta (Horst) and many nieces and nephews living in Germany.

Heinz was born in Laumuehlen Germany on October 17, 1930. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 followed shortly thereafter by his wife Hildegard. Heinz managed multiple jobs in the early years to make ends meet and then settled in at Ford Motor Company in Oakville for well over 30 years. While working as a supervisor at Ford, he was a very active member of the IOF (Independant Order of Foresters). Heinz held many positions within the organization including Chief Ranger and sitting on the High Court. Heinz will be remembered for his exuberant and friendly personality and his crazy sense of adventure.

Family and friends may gather at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre - Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, ON (North of Steeles Avenue) on Monday, March 14 from 1-2 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Chapel at 2 pm followed by a reception.
