Joan Prokopchuk

April 22, 1967 – May 8, 2015

Peacefully passed away at home, with her family by her side, shortly after her 48th birthday, following a 17 year battle with cancer.

Dear daughter of Greta and Mike Prokopchuk of Bramalea. Devoted "mom" to her beloved dog Meika (March 2001 – April 13, 2015). Loving sister of Greg, David and Paul (Kim) Prokopchuk. Caring aunt of Tyler Archambault and Max Prokopchuk. Proud godmother to Ryan and Shannon Plisek. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family, aunts, uncles, many cousins and close friends.

Joan will be remembered for her tenacity, strength and compassion. She lived her life with vigour and accepted the challenges she faced, inspiring those around her to always put their best efforts forward, for both themselves and those around them. Her faith was strong, her mind was brilliant, her outlook positive.

Thank you for the wonderful personal care that Joan received from the C.C.A.C. - Central West office and the Spectrum Health Care – Peel office, especially Dr. Dubois, Amanda, Florence, and Adrianna.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at Andrews Community Funeral Centre – Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton on May 13, 2015 from 2pm -4pm and 7pm -9pm. The funeral service will be held at Andrews Community Funeral Centre on May 14, 2015 at 1:00pm. A private cremation ceremony will follow.

Joan and Meika participated in the St.John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, where memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers.
