As a caregiver we meet people all the time but John really sticks out to me and has made a great impact to myself and to my career as a nurse. I learned a lot from him during his last days. I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet John and I was able to be apart of his journey in life. Sleep easy my friend and til we meet again. REST IN ETERNAL PEACE!!!

I met John while visiting the dog park with my old english sheepdog named Dudley. Every morning John would come out - all seasons - just to give him a biscuit. We would start to chat, now I was unsure if it was the morning chat or the biscuit that took us to his fence. He was always full of beans and so in love with his family and living. Rest In Peace dear friend. How very brave of you.

John was a lovely and loving man, in every way, warm, fatherly and nurturing. We'd meet at music events and share small talk and smiles. For some reason, I remember he was fond of really cool sweaters. Condolences to family, the memory will live on among all who knew him.

Seventy one years of friendship with John provides me with great memories. It will seem very strange without you in my life, John. I will truly miss you.

On September 16th 2021 we celebrated John’s 89th Birthday at the Paradise Theatre for a Concert. I have our verbal interaction on video...but I was the only one with a mic. I got to wish him a very Happy “29th” Birthday. I think that it was the tenth year of our celebrating his Birthday together...we missed last year because of Covid. Dani always made sure that he was in the audience for each Birthday. I always found John to be enchanting and a consummate Gentleman in every way. We always got to have a big hug and warm chat every time we met. I shall always miss his quick humour...and that constant twinkle in his eye!
Deepest condolences to his Family, who all adored him.

Papa John always had a big smile on his face. I’m happy to have lost count how many times we enjoyed live music, in Toronto and beyond. He came to my salons and everyone made a big fuss over him. He was sincere and charming - I’m going to miss that sweet face - he gave us all so many wonderful memories. XoX

We send our heartfelt condolences to the family. Johnny was a great cousin to us. We remember a lot of good times growing up. Mom and Aunt Lil were close. One memory, in particular, was when we used to have picnics at our house in the country. Then when he was a postal worker, he and Evelyn lived not too far from us in Don Mills.

Always a smile, always a sense of fun, adventure, and engagement … his face was the warmest, most welcoming one in any room. So many of us would refer to him as “Papa John”, because he was that loveable character who genuinely seemed to care about so many. Sending sincere condolences to the entire family and all those he held dear.
