Margaret Elizabeth Gould Short

Peacefully, on Sunday, June 5th, 2016, in the Brampton Civic Hospital, at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of Frank (predeceased 2014). Loving mother of Bret (Lisa), Kim, and Tod (Kelly). Cherished grandmother of Christian, Gabriel, Brandon and Brittany. Also remembered by her lifelong best friend Audrey Roman.

Margaret will be remembered for many reasons – her kind demeanor, her compassion for others, her quiet strength, her love of all things hockey, and her greatest love of all….her family. Growing up, she excelled in the classroom as well as on the basketball court and baseball field. As beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, Frank Short was lucky to call her his bride in 1960. Together they raised 3 incredible children while enjoying their regular trips to the Caribbean and Las Vegas where Margaret excelled as a champion slots player. Margaret took great pride in raising her children and was present for every practice, game or tournament they ever had. She adored her role of grandmother and instilled the same values in her grandchildren as she did in her own children. Into her later years, Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family and friends….reminiscing and laughing about the “old days” (these usually included some “Frank” stories), hearing reports of her grandchildren’s hockey, volleyball and football games, watching HGTV and most importantly…reflecting on the joyous and full life she had. She left this life just as she wanted to – in comfort, with her family by her side and with a quiet strength which never left her even in her last days. She was loved and will be missed by more people than she ever could have imagined.

She will never be forgotten.

Family and friends will gather at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton (North of Steeles) 905 456-8190, on Thursday, June 9 from 11am - 1pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 1pm.
