Mark,
It seems like just yesterday you left us. This past year has gone by so quickly; it's hard to imagine that time stands still for no one. We miss you so much, our hearts are broken for you. This journey is one that few experience in this stage of their lives. Those that do, know that it is heart wrenching and overwhelming. I miss the flame of light that you were. 

Some ask if we're ok. I can honestly say "no, but we will be."  I think that you would have wanted that. 

i will try to ensure that your precious girls will grow up to be strong, independent and efucated women. A tall order, but I'm up to the challenge.

Over the last 17 years I have been privileged and very lucky to have had you in my life. 

I would say that you have brought so much joy into my otherwise purgatorial existence. The first day I saw you, I knew that you were the man I would marry. Don't ask me how I know this, a calm serenity (with butterflies in my stomach) came over me.

We spent many evenings together just relaxing with few words between us. Always knowing what the other was mostly feeling at the time. You once told me that I was the solace you came home to after a tough day at work. Did you know that you were mine too?

Our family holidays were always fabulous and full of many wonderful memories. The cottages we shared with great friends, our girls and our extended family will always bring me to a warm place in my heart. 

What a wonderful and devoted father you were. Always there with a cuddle and a kiss and a soft warm word when needed. The girls miss your nighttime songs and snuggles.

Your friends from Canada and Ireland, professional colleagues and many extended family love you and miss you dearly. Watch over us, stand with us through struggles and laugh with us during the good times; you were always a dependable rock and a joker with a warm, generous heart.

We miss you Mark, be safe. Watch for all you love and who adore you when our time comes to pass.

My Brother Mark

I was 8 years old when Mark was born at home at 6.30 in the morning and placed into my father's arms as the doctor ran out the door to deliver another baby – the poor man was overwhelmed and thrilled and I feel this made a great bond between the two of them. He was such a gorgeous little baby so blond and good natured.  He was very sick for the first few weeks and we worried but he battled through, then when he was 7 months old he had to go into hospital for an operation on his lip those who knew Mark in the early days might remember the scar later covered by the beard or moustache, and I remember going with Mam to see him and peeping into the ward and he had what looked like toilet roll ends on his arms to stop him from pulling at the wound myself and Mam were upset and then a week later when he was due to leave this nurse Ryle pleaded with Mam to leave him for a few more days as she had become very attached to him.  He did have that certain charm even at that age!

He played happily on the green where we lived and became a very independent little guy full of spirit and always part of the gang.  In that time he got 2 suits – one for his communion and one for his confirmation.  He wore the communion suit for Paul's wedding and the confirmation suit for our wedding and on many other occasions as well, he always complained about that.  But he developed his own fashion sense, by the time of Paula's christening the hair was long and the flairs were huge but he thought he was the bees knees! He always turned up for family occasions, he never missed one but after he got the bike the fashion was leather!

His passions before he left Ireland were bikes, rugby and music and he was extremely passionate about all 3! Through the bikes he met his lifelong best friends and had some of the most wonderful times, which he talked about so much and yes there was always a story – Mark was a great one for the story and boy was he able to tell them!  That was one of his great talents and we all loved to hear him tell them.  The loud rock music just lit him up – you would be deaf especially in the car, he loved it and knew every artist and song and went to many many mad concerts but he also loved Irish music and some of the best times I remember is sitting in his back garden by the pool on the beautiful warm Canadian evenings with his ‘stereo hut' playing lovely music – just sitting beside each other without a word and feeling so close.

When he went to Canada we were shattered, I won't lie to you, we missed him so much and it was so important to keep in touch with him.  I used to worry about him and every birthday and Christmas sent presents – without thinking at Christmas I always sent him a jumper and the friends there would say ‘another jumper from your sister Mark'! As his friends were all getting married and having families I hoped Mark would find someone and thanks be to God and all the novenas, he did!  I met Tina the night before the wedding and instantly liked her and felt this was good.  The wedding in Sept 1997 was a great day and the family relationship was bonded.

Mark and Tina had a delayed honeymoon trip to Greece and myself and Noel joined them for a week of it in Crete in 1998 and we had such a hilarious time.  When at Christmas 2001 Mark and Tina arrived in Dublin and announced that a baby was on the way – well we were all so thrilled this was great news and then this little beautiful pink baby called Aisling arrived into our lives in Aug 2002 and in November 2005 gorgeous happy Muireann arrived.
 
We spent many happy times in Canada in the Carton house with all the girls and Mark and enjoyed many family occasions there with all the friends.  We met many of Marks's work colleagues over the years and again when we were there during his illness and it meant so much to us to think how much he was liked and was so well respected.  I know he used to wind them up as he did us, with his stories and jokes and would then walk away and leave them hanging to figure it out! But then that was Mark!

I will love and miss you for ever Mark

To Tina, Aisling and Muireann, what can I say about our Mark, the memories, the laughs and the surprises, when he would turn up unannounced out of the blue for Christmas or other family occasions.  I have been lucky to have had Mark as an uncle and as part of my life for so long, although his last attempt at babysitting me did end with me lost in a police station telling the gardai that my mother was in the pub,  while he watched the world cup, but thats a good story for another day.

Although gone, he will never be forgotten and will live on in our hearts. We will even overlook some of his worst jokes that would made you groan but still, make you laugh. His lasting legacy will always be the amazing three girls that he brought into our life and the fact that every time I think of him, my sister will get a thump.  We skyped almost every Sunday, after dinner, and I am sure we will continue to talk to and about him at those family dinners every Sunday. 

Rest in peace, but stay active in our hearts.

It's been one month since you left us, we are all missing you desperately. I'm trying to be strong for Aisling and Muireann. 

I love you so much, my heart is broken that you are gone. The only consolation I have is that your suffering is over and that you are at peace.

Marko, I can't believe this moment in time. What an Uncle, I will miss you so much. I keep thinking back to good memories. I always remember and talk about the time when I was a kid you took me on the back of your motorbike around Croydon Green, my poor mother was having a meltdown, the thrill and excitement for me was magical. You also bought me my first vinyl record “Now that's what I call music” for Christmas and you also put it onto tape for me so I could play it on my new walkman, I played that all the time. And how we used to play with your stereo with all the switches in Croydon Green, as kids we were fascinated with it. Great memories that will last forever.

You made us so welcome when we came out to see you in Canada, and the brilliant crabfest in the Mandarian when we ate so much and everyone had to go to bed afterwards we were so full. The jokes and Monty Python quotes always make me laugh, I can still hear you say “the aqueducts“ and then laugh.

To Tina, Aisling and Muireann I am so sorry for your loss, together we will share our grief and be strong. Markie, till we meet again.

Where do I start, first of all to Tina, Aisling & Muireann. I'm know things are hard now and going to be for a while, but you have to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel and Mark will be there watching over you all the way. 

I will always remember hearing about the panic Mark was in when myself and Lorraine were a couple of hours late getting back to your house from Niagara Falls, even though we never actually arranged a time to be back. He was ringing round every where, from police stations to hospitals and even to my Mam in Dublin looking for us. When we did get there he was calm as you like and he never said a word like as if we were there on time. 
That same time when he brought me to collect our hire car and as I had never driven that side of the road before or did I know my way around, so I was following him closely and then quick as a flash he cut across 4 lanes and took the next exit off the motorway. Myself and Lorraine were just looking across thinking ehhh where's he just gone before we realised we had no idea where we were going or how to get back to house. That was an interesting drive after that. But he always had the belief that, if given the chance you could find your own way. 

Always remember you have a family here in Ireland whenever you need us.

Dear Marko, cant believe I wont ever see that cheeky face hiding behind the pillar at the airport enjoying watching us walk around wondering where the hell you are and if you have forgotten to pick us up, and demanding to know if we brought your Tayto and rasin and biscuit Yorkies before we would get to the house or get a dig in the arm every time you walked past me or get threatened  with a big of peanuts!! We have so many happy memories. What I wouldnt give to hear Monty Python quotes or listening to Jingle cats over and over again with you telling us what a great album it is, or the way you could remember every single joke you ever heard, most of them corny.   I feel very lucky to have shared so much time with you and your 3 wonderful girls and despite the big pond you never felt that far away. Thank you for being a fantastic uncle and godfather (despite the fact you were told to do it by Nora and had no choice and did nothing whatsoever to teach me about god!!!), you have been a huge part or our family and my life and I always loved ending  up in Durham Crescent at the end of my long trips when I was  tired, hungry and broke and you and Tina always made me feel welcome and took care of me. To me ‘Auntie ‘Teeney and my two lovely gorgeous adorable cousins, I hope you know how amazing your daddy was and how much he was loved by everyone, we love you so much and we will share many more happy memories together in the future, we will always be there for you and we promise to always talk about Markie and keep his memory alive. Sleep tight uncie, til we meet again, love you so much and miss you, rest in peace, Lots of love, Paula   xxxxxxx

To Tina, Aisling and Muireann
I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss in each case your Husband and Dad was a great man and I know you will all miss him dearly...I know I will. He filled my life with laughter and fun; so many great memories that I will never forget him.

I just wanted to put in writing, some of my great memories of Mark or as I loved to call him “Hagar”. In case you didn't know, “Hagar” was a funny Viking who reminded me so often of your Da that we gave him the nick name and it stuck. To be honest he loved it…there are so many memories; I will try to tell you as many as I can or allowed to...LOL! 

I have known Mark for 33 years (since we were 18-19 years old) and to this day we have been the best of friends. We have seen and done so much together, so what I would like to do now is tell you some of the stories and fun things we got up to..I hope you enjoy.

We both meet when we were started our apprenticeships for Guinness. We both trained to be Fitter/Turners or as they call them in Canada, millwrights. Mark was a year ahead of me, so when we met Mark was more experienced than I was. When we met we found out we loved the same music, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and Pink Floyd…this was how our friendship grew.

Your Da loved to play rugby and was very good at it. He loved motorbikes and driving them fast; he had me out a few times on the back and I was scared silly, he just laughed at me.

At the end of his apprenticeship, Mark joined a company called Air Motive and one year later I followed (I missed him…lol) During that time we went to lots of concerts together and played soccer together and won a few trophies, it was great craic! Then we did this really cool thing and joined thousands of other people and cycled from Dublin to Belfast (which was 100 miles away). It was great fun and we trained so hard (well I did, your Da, not too much) but he made it. All the fun we had on the way up; we got stopped by the police for cycling on the wrong side of the road and we were laughing, but we got away with it. The next day we cycled back another 100 miles and when we got close to the finish, we joined hands and crossed together; it was so cool! The whole reason for the cycle was to promote peace in Ireland. 

In 1988-1989 Ireland were playing soccer to qualify for the World Cup and we decided to go to all the home games over that 12 month period. It was great craic, except I was the gobshite that got up at 2am in the morning to line up for tickets. When I asked your Da when he was taking a turn, he just said I was good at it.  Typical Hagar humor. We would take time off work to go for a few pints and scream on Ireland and it worked, we qualified!  Our job was done as we would say...

Your Da had a brilliant motor bike (a Kawasaki 1300). When anyone saw it they would just be so jealous because it was so fast and he loved to remind everybody that it was not just 1300cc but, it was shaft driven. That gave him great pleasure…at the time, there were only 4 shaft driven bikes in Ireland and your Da had one, very cool...

Mark would drive to Wexford on his bike and meet my family at our caravan. He would take Adrienne out for a drive because she loved to go fast and Mark would always guarantee that would happen. Adrienne loved it. He even took Stephen out too but, not as fast; just around the camp site and he loved it.

Then in the summer of 1989 Mark immigrated to Canada. It was very sad to see him leave Ireland but, he was convinced it was the right thing to do and he was right big time…One year later guess what, I followed him out to Canada. When I immigrated too, he said to me that I was following him everywhere. He was right but, we were happy to be friends in Canada again.

Just so you all know the first year in Canada was crazy nuts and you ladies will have to be 21 years old before I can tell you all the crazy stuff that happened, so start your countdown...LOL.

We went to many concerts in the years that followed: AC/DC, Heart, Page & Plant and others. There are three that stand out for different reasons (1) Iron Maiden. I convinced Hagar to go so, he did and within 30 minutes he was p^%$# off that they were screaming too much and didn't understand what the singer was saying, so we left (he was mad at me). (2) We went to Detroit to see Van Halen and Mark got a box through his job and there we were, in the box loving the music, drinking rye and coke and eating shrimp. When we finished the shrimp, we flicked the tails down on the people (peasants) to feed them.  We got a very childish kick out of that! (3) Now the best for last…we wanted to see Genesis in concert but we had no tickets, so we went to the Sky Dome early that day to get tickets through scalpers. This was going to be a tough mission once we got there; i was going mad getting bids from the scalpers for the tickets.  Each time Hagar would say ‘try them down there Gerry'. So, Gerry ran off here, there and everywhere until finally Hager could not make up his mind on which set of tickets. I had managed to talk this guy down, so I was getting p^%$# at Hagar. He started to laugh at me, so that made me even madder. Then just as I was about to pay the guy, Hagar pulls out 2 tickets he already had before we got there! He had tears of laughter running down his face watching me go nuts to get the tickets.  He worked me over good that day…oh, and the scalper was really p^%%$# and ran after the two of us…we got a great laugh out of it.

The first year we were in Canada together, all the guys living together went to Oshkosh for the big air show…Mark, Dermot, Craig and Gerry. The young warriors out for some craic, and we got it by the bucket load!

Our first Christmas together in Canada was great! 4 lads in a house with lots of friends dropping by and guess what? We had Christmas dinner in our house. So we made a great dinner but early in the morning Dermot and I went to wake everybody up for Santa; and we wanted to do it the AC/DC way…which (very simply put) stick two speakers on the air vents and blast the music so we could scare the shite out of everybody. Well, Mark had other ideas…he disconnected the speaker the night before and crashed our surprise. When we finally figured it out, Hagar was standing in the doorway wearing green shorts and cowboy boots and was howling with laughter at us!

In January of 1993, we all went to see the Buffalo Bills vs. the Houston Oilers play the wildcard game at Rich Stadium. As it turned out that day would become (to this day) the greatest comeback in NFL history. Mark, Ray, Ann, Gerry and Ann's brother Dave and his wife Lynn were there to witness the event. Buffalo were 33 points down and the Bills started the comeback…the best part was thousands of fans left the stadium because they thought the Bills were gone. Not Mark, he was shouting nasty words at all the fans leaving saying “you never stop supporting your team!” He was right; the twist in the tale was that both myself and Ray wanted to leave but we were afraid to say anything to Mark, so we stayed. Thank God we stayed…what happened next was history. When we told Hagar after the game, he still gave us abuse but, it was some craic. A freezing cold day but, one of the most memorable days ever.

In September of 2004, Hagar, Ray and Gerry went to San Francisco to see the opening game of the NFL season. We always wanted to see this great city, so we turned it into a football road trip. What a trip it was! Great craic…we went nuts. It all started in the airport…all 3 of us got moved to first class because there was a blind man with his dog that wasn't allowed into first class, so off we went. All the beers and food we could handle…we drove all the high rollers mad with our laughing and craic.
Once is San Fran we did everything, bus tours and Alcatraz island (which we all loved). When it was time for the game, we all dressed in our Ireland Jerseys and had some craic with the local supports singing and drinking with them…and ladies, it's true they love the Irish accent down there and we were loved! What a trip! 4 days and then exhausted, we took the plane back to T.O, but not without one last bit of craic. So we are on the plane all sitting very tired from our exploits and watching Dodge Ball. A very funny movie…we were laughing very hard but then Ray decided to fart and boy did he fart! It was very smelly and guess what, there were 3 Chinese guys behind us. Well, for the next 2 hours we gassed them and laughed like little kids with tears rolling down our faces. They were not impressed and all we did was laugh (we were sore from laughing). What a road trip, just awesome!

I hope you enjoy my memories of your Dad and my friend “Hagar”. We had some fabulous days that I will never forget. I hope they bring a smile to your face because they did for me writing them and reliving our time together.
Your Dad was funny, thoughtful and always a person who was up for the craic. He would never let you down when you needed help. He was just great fun to be around and like I said, we had so much in common.

I will miss your dad very much but I will never forget him, I will savour every moment we had together.

To my 'T' Bear, 
Words can't express how much I miss you. I find myself thinking of you at all hours of the day and wishing that you were still here so I could see your smiling eyes and hear your laugh once more.

The time we shared together was so special to me; even just sitting quietly and holding your hand meant the world to me. I often want to pick up the phone during the day to tell you the latest news or to hear how your day is going. Then I remember that I can't because you aren't there to take the call.

Your wit and humour always had so many people on their toes...even me until I 'had heard that one before'. I loved watching you reel others in and seeing those bright blue eyes light up as others didn't get it. Even after explaining the joke to some, you were still bright eyed and would chuckle and bow your head in disbelief.

Everyone could see what kind of father you were and how much you were devoted to your girls. Just imagine that you struggled becoming a father because you were so nervous, then took to it so naturally.

I remember the holidays we took together and with the girls; they hold so many wonderful memories for me. Our times at night by campfires listening to music at the various cottages are only some of the good times we shared.

Thank you for giving me the strength I desperately needed to get through these last months. I wouldn't have been able to do so much if I didn't love you more than life itself...it's what you're supposed to do for the ones you love.

I know that you will always be with us, remember what I promised you that day...I won't ever forget.

Eulogy for Mark Carton at the funeral mass given by a very dear friend, Dave Scheerer.

My name is Dave Scheerer and I'm honored to be speaking on behalf of the many friends from the Karmax family.

Mark worked at Karmax for 25 years. He was a machinist by trade and served his apprenticeship at Guinness in Ireland. Proud of his Irish heritage Mark often spoke about his fond memories with his family and friends. 
Growing up back home Mark often talked about his passion for track and field, soccer, rugby and fast motorcycles. He often spoke about his many stories of various sports teams and racing around on fast bikes.

Over the many years working together I was fortunate to get to know Mark at a personal level as we shared an office for over 10 years. During this time we played off each other's strengths and became a great team. We were part of a wonderful group that were all close friends with Mark.

We often traveled together on business. I recall one time we were in Detroit and I needed to stop at an ATM machine. It was in a rundown area of town and I remember being a little nervous taking money out of the machine. I thought I heard someone so I turned only to find Mark guarding my back to offer me some security I needed. It was at that moment when I knew we had a close friendship that would last forever.

Another time I remember stressing at work to Mark about a Reno that I had on the go at home. That Saturday while working away at my house I looked up only to find Mark standing there with his hammer ready to help. He was always there when I needed him.

At work he had many friends. A gentleman, dependable and full of knowledge. Mark was my go to guy. He was always my source for advice and always knew how to get the job done when needed.

Mark was well known at Karmax for his wit and humor. Many times having lunch with his colleagues it was a time full of laughter when Mark had something funny to say like asking a young tool and die apprentice to take his adjustable wrench to the tool crib to have it calibrated. Another time with Mark I called a fellow employee Anoop. “Give me Anoop” I said. Mark beside me said oop lol!

Mark loved music. He could always name that tune! I once witnessed Mark singing in a karaoke bar to a standing ovation. He had a wonderful voice.

After arriving to Canada it didn't take long for Mark to fall in love with NFL football. He always talked about his favorite team the Buffalo Bills. He boasted he was at the coldest game in history at minus 40 to watch his bills go to the championship. He loved soccer so much he travelled to Japan with his buddies to watch the world cup 12 years ago. 

Speaking on behalf of all Mark's Karmax friends I can tell you that Mark was a very proud husband and father. I remember when he first met Tina and how deeply he fell in love with her. His daughters Aisling and Muireann were the apple of his eye. No one could pass his desk without stopping to hear the girl's latest accomplishments or see his latest photos of his beautiful daughters. 

I'd like to close with an Irish prayer:

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.

Beautiful Muireann,
You have dad's carefree smile and gentle disposition. His zest for life and loving nature. Don't ever lose those wonderful qualities.

Remember that he is always with you no matter when or where you are in your life. Don't be afraid to talk to him.

Dad would want you to be the best person you can be always; don't ever give up!

Eulogy for Mark Carton at funeral mass delivered by his brother-in-law Noel White 

First of all I would like to thank all of you for coming here today. I am sure that Mark is looking down on us pleased as punch that so many have come to support his family on this sad occasion.

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Noel and I am the guy who is married to Mark's big sister Ann. The sister he was so proud of and close to. Ignoring every other person he would introduce Ann to everyone. They spoke on the phone every week.

I would like to share with you some of our memories of this happy go lucky guy called Mark. Mark made his confirmation in 1972. He got a new suit and new clothes for the occasion. The following year Ann and myself got married. Everyone was decked out in new outfits - but guess what, Mark got to wear his confirmation suit again. He wore it to a number of family occasions after that and the family joke was ‘Mark does not need anything new, sure hasn't he got his confirmation suit?'. 

Years later our daughter Paula was making her confirmation and all the family as usual went out for a meal afterwards. Wine was ordered and poured out and the starter came. As the starter dishes were being collected Mark's mother Nora said 'Noel I would love a sherry before the main course' and I asked everyone at the table if they would like a sherry and there was only one other taker my mother Bridget;   everyone else said no including Mark. After the meal as we were leaving the restaurant Mark came to me and said 'I am going out with the lads tonight for a few drinks and I am going to try out your round system with them', what system I said, Mark said 'I am going to ask them when it's my round if they want a sherry and if they say no, which I know they will, they get nothing'. On occasions after that if Ann and myself were away for the weekend celebrating a birthday or anniversary a bottle of sherry would be sent to our room complements of Mark. He never missed an opportunity to get you! But as his daughters would say - Daddy your jokes are rubbish.
 
In the summer of 1989 Ann, her Dad Jim and myself waved goodbye to Mark at Dublin airport with tears in our eyes as he set off to Canada to make a new life for himself - we worried we may never see him again as Canada then was light years from Ireland. Ann and myself made our first visit to Canada in 1990 and together with our family have been regular visitors since. In those early days Mark lived in a house in Cassander with a group of lads and life was one big party. 

One by one the lads moved on and got married and in 1997 Mark married the love of his life Tina and then came two beautiful daughters Aisling and Muireann and from then on everything was for our girls. Our family have been privileged to attend their family occasions in Canada and become friends with their many friends. 

Their trip home to Ireland 3 years ago was a great family occasion and at a party in our house which went on till the small hours of the morning, Mark, Tina and the girls met family, cousins, uncles and friends that Mark had not seen in years. It was a very happy time and a holiday the girls still talk about. Sadly it was his last trip home but, for Tina and the girls I hope there will be many trips home over the years and I am sure that Mark will watch over them.

To Tina, Aisling and Muireann I would say this, as you walk the road of life into the future in difficult times, talk to Mark - ask him for help and I am sure he will walk that road with you. 

The family would like to say a very special thank you to Fr Grima for coming to the hospital to see Mark and saying the mass today. Your kindness and compassion will stay with us forever. 

I would like you all to leave here today with one thought:

Always remember that dad loved you very much...he was the first to see you when you were born. I remember when you were just a day old, dad was smiling while holding you and having a wonderful quiet conversation with you...and you laughed at him!  

You are his precious girl and everything good that was his personality is yours. His humour, bright smile, gentle soul, kind disposition and giving nature are all wonderful traits that you will carry with you always.

It's ok to have mixed feelings over time and we will all heal together but, remember he is always watching over you. Look to him for guidance when you need it.

Darling Mark, little baby brother we just can't believe you have left us, we will miss you so much and it's too hard to put into any words what that loss will do to us all.  All the fun, laughter and wit you brought to our lives will never be forgotten just missed.  We shared a lot of happiness and sadness, great times and difficult times together even if there were 3,000 miles between us it seemed like you were just  around the corner.  Thank you for all the love and support you have given us over the years and thank you for bringing Tina into our family and those two beautiful girls Aisling and Muireann who are the light of our family.  Until we meet again, hopefully just around the corner Mark, may God be with you and rest in peace.

I've worked with Mark for over 20 years, the last several with his desk just across from me. Our mornings would start with a recap of the previous night's events & highlights of what was going on with our kids. We would share with pride stories and pictures of how our children were doing in school, dance and theatre and talk of the regular tasks like pool openings or shoveling snow or things we needed to purchase.
We would often joke amongst ourselves and he was, of course, the king of one liners and unexpected sarcasm; I was often the victim of his goodhearted teasing. He could sit quiet and unassuming, we would think he wasn't paying attention and then he would say something that would leave us all laughing with tears in our eyes. The absence of his wit will change the dynamics here forever.
As I came into our office this morning, it is with a very heavy heart that I look over to his desk covered in pictures of you girls and knickknacks collected from his may years here. His presence is still very real, we will never be able to fill that void.
Girls, always remember that your Dad was a great guy and for sure, he will never be very far from your side, always watching over you.

Dear Tina, Aisling and Muireann, I've had the pleasure of working with Mark for nearly 2 decades.  Mark always had a positive disposition no matter how much stress he was under.  He brought a fantastic sense of clean fun humor and wit that was sometimes as complex as a crossword puzzle.  He knew how to suck you into a short story and leave you unsure if it was true or just a joke.  All you had as a clue was his grin or raised eyebrow and a tilt of the head to try and judge the story.  I loved his tails of times gone by in Ireland and I was especially happy to listen to Mark talk about Aisling and Muireann with such pride and joy.   He was always excited to show me pictures of the girls at their various dancing competitions or when he had new photos from a portrait studio.  I feel a real emptiness in knowing that these life treats will now have to be memories only.  I can't begin to imagine the pain of his loss to you and the girls and my heart truly bleeds for you.  I can only hope that it offers you some comfort and pride to know how well loved, respected and appreciated he was (and always will be) to his friends at work.
