It is with deep sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of Mary Christie on February 2, 2026 at home in Bramalea. She was days shy of her 81st birthday and her 58th wedding anniversary. Surrounded by her adoring family and is survived by her loving husband Ken. Treasured mother of Craig and Michelle (Dave)
Cherished Grandma to Marleigh and Davis, who she adored immensely. It was heartbreaking to her, knowing that she would not be here to watch them mature into adulthood. She loved seeing them experience new things and getting updates with their daily calls or visits. She set the foundations and the kids felt the buckets of love, they will continue to make her proud.
Mary was born in Windsor Ontario to the late Joseph and Rose Nagy, one of three siblings, the late Bill Nagy (Dorothy) and the late Caroline McConnell (late Jack). Sister in law to the late Donna Christie and Virginia Gulyas (Ernie), She leaves behind generations of nieces and nephews who each held a special place in her heart.
As a dedicated employee of the Bank of Montreal for over 25 years she met several lifelong friends and adored her customers. It was always fun shopping with her to see how many people would stop her to say hello and she had an uncanny ability to remember everything! We were lucky to have mom as a stay at home mom while we were young. She was an active member in the community, including coaching teams in the Bramalea Girls Softball league, in her last year she coached the team to a Little Champs Day Win! Her involvement instilled the love of baseball throughout her life and she was a huge Blue Jays fan. Being the wife of a Kinsmen Club member she helped with many fundraising events. She was always volunteering to go on school trips, and got involved to help with her kids' activities. She was a leader for Girl Guides and later with the Trefoil Group where she served as treasurer for many years. She was a talented baker and she passed on her talents to her daughter. She loved to travel and was blessed to have the opportunity to see so much of the world. Mom was always there for her kids and our friends, creating strong bonds and as an extension of family. Mary’s love of gardening and flowers brought her so much joy.
Mary greatly cherished her life long friends Norma (late Mike), Jo-Ann (late Gerry) whom she shared many great times together. She loved time with friends and truly missed her monthly luncheons with the ladies! There are so many more life longtime friendships created through her life who we all cherished.
Mary was a kind and gentle force, deeply loved by all who knew her. Creative and generous, she gave of herself freely, was always ready to help, always thinking of others before herself. She was a true warrior and carried great strength with grace even in the most difficult times. Her strength was from love, resilience, and unwavering courage. As a friend, she was loyal and comforting; as a mother, she was fierce, nurturing, and endlessly devoted. Her love was her legacy, and it lives on in every life she touched. She will be remembered and dearly missed
Our deepest gratitude and Thank You goes to our longtime family doctor Dr. F.B. Forbes and his devoted right hand Suzy, for their support, deep compassion and friendship over the years. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the several PSW’s from Spectrum Health Care, particularly Sherda who provided excellent care, compassion and support to all of us.
As per Mary’s wishes a Celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kids Help Phone in her honour.
