It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald John Stephen on April 19, 2026 at the age of 82, at the Brampton Civic Hospital where he was respectfully attended to with compassion by the nurses in the ICU.
Ron was born in Montreal on July 6, 1943. He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Thelma of 58 years; his beloved children Ken (Sherry), Jeff (Amanda), and Michelle (Paul); and his cherished grandchildren Josh, Chase, and Maddie. He will also be fondly remembered by his furry companions Bella, Callie, Smokey, and Moose. Ron is survived by his sisters Barbara (Colin), Sandra (Ross, deceased), and Jill (Michael), as well as his sister-in-law Ethel (brother Gary, deceased), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Ron lived in Two Mountains for many years, where he attended LTM High School and later graduated from Sir George Williams (Concordia) University before earning his CGA. He began his career with Nortel in Montreal and in 1978 his work brought him and Thelma to Brampton, Ontario, where they built a life and lasting friendships. After 35 dedicated years with Nortel, Ron retired and embraced a slower pace, enjoying golf, travelling with family and many peaceful hours reading on the patio beside his favourite Orange Blossom tree or under the maple tree in the backyard.
A Celebration of Ron's life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00am at Andrews Community Funeral Centre Bramalea Chapel, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton, On. Visitation is at 10 a.m., 1 hour prior to Service. Following the Service the family invites guests to join them for a reception at the Funeral Home.
A private ash scattering ceremony will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ron's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
