

Mary Glasgow was born Somaria Mary Ramroop in Trinidad on August 16th, 1927. She was the first born out of nine children to Mungal and Ruth Ramroop. Sister of Albert (deceased), Robert (deceased), John (deceased), Marcel (deceased), Ethel, Sheila, Kenneth, and Cynthia. Most of her earlier years she grew up with her grandmother. Mary attended elementary school in Maracas, St Joseph, Trinidad. Mary was involved in the church from a young age and continued her involvement throughout her entire life. During her teen years, she attended the Seven Day Adventist School and was liked by an American couple, Mr & Mrs. Walter Kennedy from California. Mary stayed with the Kennedy's at their home in Trinidad during the weekdays and returned back home on the weekends. Mary worked in a jewelry store in the heart of downtown in the Port of Spain, Trinidad for several years. Mary first met Edwin on the train in March 1963. After having a short 6-month courtship they got married in November 1963 in Trinidad. Mary & Edwin immigrated to Canada eight months later. Mary and Edwin lived in Toronto for 34 years. For 25 years Mary worked at the Queen St Mental Health Centre in the food services department. Her eldest daughter Edwina was born October 1965 and her son Ian was born October 1966. Mary and Edwin have been in Brampton since October 2005. Mary celebrated her 54th wedding anniversary this year with friends and family. Mary loved all people and always wanted to put a smile on everyone's face.
