Loving husband of Irena Ziarko (nee Faltyn) for almost 56 years.
Cherished father of Edyta (Mirek), Anna, George (Melissa), and Christopher.
Cherished grandfather to Lukash (Karolina), Marczin and Kasia (Arek), and great-grandfather to Iulian and Jagoda.
Szczepan was born in Brzozówka, Poland, on September 22, 1944. At the age of 10, his family moved to a neighbouring village, Sypitki, where he would eventually start a family of his own. As a young man, he enrolled in courses on railway management and became a railway track maintenance supervisor for a regional commuter railway. On July 21, 1968, at the age of 25, he married Irena. As the family grew and to supplement the family income, Szczepan and Irena bought a parcel of land and started farming, in addition to working his railway job to provide for the family during the tough economic times.
In 1989, he emigrated to Canada in search of better opportunities. Shortly after, most of the family joined Szczepan in Canada, and the family built a new life here. While in Canada, he worked as a warehouse associate for a small tool distributor. After 20 years of service, he was forced into early retirement because of a lung cancer diagnosis at the age of 62. Szczepan survived lung cancer and went on to enjoy most of his retirement years in his home in Brampton.
Szczepan was a devout Catholic and a hard-working man who valued religion, family, and a strong work ethic. He instilled those values in his children. He was known for his charisma, generosity and friendly demeanour. He loved nature, gardening, and spending time with Irena, his children and dogs.
He will be missed by the many who were touched by his spirit, generosity and love.
May you rest in Peace.
