On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, Teresa Dorothy Cummings said goodbye to this world and went to be with the Lord. Better known as “Grandma Joyce, Lady J, Mother Teresa”, she passed away peacefully in Malton Village where she called home for the last fifteen years, at the age of 93.
Teresa Dorothy Cummings was born in the beautiful island of Grenada on August 17th, 1930. She is survived by her 3 of 4 children, Fabian Andrews and wife Helen, with their 4 children and 7 grandchildren, Lillian (Lett) Cummings and her husband Desmond and their 4 children, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, and Hilton Cummings and wife Andrea Cummings with 2 children and predeceased by her daughter Leslian, who is survived by her 6 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her cousins Liz, Shirley, Patsy, Wendel, Althea, Angela, Jonathan and close friends Judith and Edward in Canada, her two surviving siblings Jerome Mapp with his children in Florida and Stephen with his children in Grenada, her nieces in Grenada Jenny, CrissyAnn and Alice and their family, the Bartholomew family of Windsor Forest, Mapp family of Perdmontemps, and other relatives in Grenada, her nieces and nephews, Chritopher (Rocky) Joseph, Christine, Vicklyn, Michael, Rawlston, Milton, Rafel and their family, in the U.S and her nieces, nephew and relatives, Glenda, Keisha, Stephen, and their family in Trinidad.
Teresa was a simple God-fearing woman that possessed a warm heart. She loved singing, walking, travelling, caring, and feeding people. She once said the thing that made her unhappy was seeing people sick. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The family would like to thank Malton Village, Admin, and caregivers for their dedication to Teresa’s care.
A viewing is scheduled for Sunday May 19th, 2024, from 3–7 PM at Andrews Community Funeral Centre – 8190 Dixie Rd, Brampton, ON, 905-456-8190. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Teresa’s life. The funeral service will be held in Grenada with La Qua Brothers Funeral Home, with details to come.
