MUNOZ, Aleja, 94, entered into rest June 2, 2014. She was a religious, strong-willed, determined, giving, generous, funny, courageous woman who enjoyed dominos, bingo, music and dancing. Aleja was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Rafael Munoz; son, Adolpho Munoz; son-in-law, David Ortiz; brothers, Rondon Rivera, Gaspar Rivera; sisters, Albertina Rivera, Patricia Chan; niece, Maria Antonia Gerena. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Munoz (Pedro Izquierdo Leyva), Carmen Munoz Baker (Robert), Lourdes Munoz; nephews, Anthony Chan, Gaspar Rivera, Andre Ramos; grandchildren, William A. Sims, Troy Sims, Michael Alicea, Armando Alicea, Elysa Ortiz, Peggy Munoz Baker, David Ortiz; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Visitation will be held 4-8 pm Friday, June 6 at Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon. Funeral Mass 11 am Saturday, June 7 at Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Tampa. Flowers or donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor will be accepted. Aleja will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but will live on in their hearts and memories.
