Cheech-I got a reminder yesterday about your early arrival in Heaven.  I remember you as one of the best people I have ever known. Your joy for life, your unbelievable beautiful smile, and even temperament are missed.  When I knew you, you were always bold in doing the right thing, letting faith in Christ be an anchor.  You and your family will never be forgotten. Until we meet again :)

To my Dear Aunt Cheeltes, I only just learned of your passing today and my heart aches at the news. I fervently hope that your last days on this earth were peaceful and free of pain. You and Uncle Steve were a calm oasis in the seas of my difficult and tumultuous childhood. I have so many amazing memories of the time I spent with you, and how loving and joyful you always were to me in a time when I needed it most. I loved you more than I ever said and am saddened by your departure before I could you how much you meant to me. I love you.

What can I say to best describe my sister? I can start by saying she had a great sense of humor and was a very kind person. But anyone who knew Cheech is aware of that. I can talk about her strengths. As she single handedly kept me, her little sister, alive during all the death defining stunts we pulled growing up in the 70's. Or, her perseverance, which drove her to form her successful company,Gator Gill, while being an attentive wife and mother. I can talk about her athleticism and leadership which allowed her to hold the captain position, several years, of our highschool basket ball team and the all Star team in softball. These all are small parts of the Chi-Chi I know and love. All parts, which make up a bigger picture, that’s harder to define.
   Cheech felt no need to be the center of attention. Instead, she liked to come into any room and blend in, settling back to observe and quietly participate in whatever was happening. But One thing that would always stand out was her smile.   Life has a way of shifting and changing in unexpected directions. Who knew that less than one month after her diagnosis I would see her draw her last breath? How could any of us have predicted that this girl who was so active diving and biking and all the crazy things she did would even be sick? And yet, here we are, and she is free. Happy, I’m sure, in the arms of our living God.
  So, what do I say about my sister? I can say without any doubt that she loved her children, husband, niece's, nephews, friends, pets and mother, beyond measure. That she was loyal, decent and kind, smart, athletic and a risk-taker. She loved a good joke and a laugh. She also had a secret passion for starbucks coffee. Was she good? Absolutely. Will we miss her? Without a doubt. Is she happy now? Happier than ever before. My Chaplain told me to not fret and  that she is now in the arms of our Lord. Cheech is now whole but we are still healing. May we hold her close in our hearts and forever in our memories

Steve, my heart goes out to you and your children.  You know I'm here if you need anything at all. Hold on to your faith in God,  cling to His promises and stand on His word.  He's not going to abandon you now.  Tresa was a beautiful woman! May God hold her and keep her always in peace. ♡

I NEVER GOT TO MEET YOU IN PERSON, BUT I GOT TO TALK TO YOU ON THE PHONE AND MEET YOU THROUGH A GREAT HUSBAND.  HE TALKED ABOUT YOU OFTEN AND HOW WELL YOU AND HIM WORKED WITH GATOR GILL LLC.  YOUR HUSBAND OFTEN SHARED SOME OF YOUR DIVING EXPERIENCES.  A COUPLE WHO SHARE SIMILAR PASSIONS MUST HAVE BEEN A GREAT FEELING.  I KNOW YOUR DIVING IN HEAVEN AND SOON SHORT AND ALL OF US WILL BE JOINING YOU.   MAY YOUR FAMILY REMAIN STRONG AND CHERISH THE MEMORIES MOVING FORWARD. 

Tresa was a beautiful, fun-loving, kind and generous woman. My family and I had the pleasure of spending time with her and Steve on the water a few times. We had a blast scalloping, boating and collecting shells on the beach in Sanibel. 

I will always remember her with a smile on her face, in the water, on a gorgeous sunny day.  ❤

Tresa Short has been our good friend for just over 6 years. My entire immediate family, wife, sons, grandbabies, brother, nephews, neighbors, friends and I all knew her very well and loved her dearly she will be severely missed. She always wore this contagious smile that everyone surrounding her easily adopted. She poured out gallons of happiness to everyone in our family, our friends and even to the strangers we would meet while out and about.  Crazy, but even these strangers would soon become her friends. 

We’ve known Tresa and Steve personally very well since 2012. Over a six-year course we shared many, many fun very memorable times with Tresa and Steve.  Tresa was always the bright light in the middle of our large group, she always glowed. Whenever we had a large function at our home, you would know she was there because people gravitated to her group, and it was never a small one. She had a fun but kind, magnetic personality that naturally brought everyone near her smiling or laughing. Her ability to laugh at herself because of some stupid, but tiny mistake was very uncommon and to be honest was one of the cutest things she did that I’ll really miss.

Tresa was a very good swimmer, she would hold her breath seemingly forever while photographing either Steve, Carol or myself scuba diving, or spear fishing deep under water. We would look up sometimes at deep depths and there she was, miraculously just feet away, taking our pictures. She took some great pictures of underwater activities and even closeups of scallops I’ve not seen before. A very kind extroverted individual.

I know right now she is smiling down at us all forever from heaven above.




My wife Evelyn and I were blessed to have met Tresa several years ago.  From the moment I met her I knew she was a very special person.  She was always trying to make me laugh.  She was very good at it too.  As much of a hard time as I gave her, she dished it right back, and then some.  We loved her very much, and will miss her dearly until we meet again. I'd like to say that I am so sorry to hear about Chi Chi. She will always be an inspiration.  I had the privilege of knowing her many years ago. Beauty.Brawn.Brains. That's how I remember Teresa. Please accept our hugs and love from me and the kids. 

My condolences on the passing of Alma.  Our creator is a God who understands
your pain and sorrow.  Put your trust in him by praying for the help and 
comfort needed during this sad time.  Cherish the many wonderful memories
you shared with Alma.  Prayer and your sweet memories will help you to 
cope with the loss of this dear woman.
