Armand Merrell Whitman Sr.

Armand Merrell Whitman Sr., son of Ottis Dewey Whitman Sr. and Lucy Dora Whitman, died on March 29, 2016 from complications of a stroke. He was 81. During the earlier part of Armand‘s life, he grew up in the Grant Park area of Tampa and was a track star at Hillsborough High School. He spent ten years in the Air Force, and over 20 years with the United States Post Office. It is from here that he would retire in the 1990's. As he did earlier in life, Armand, a deeply religious man, spent his later years fishing, traveling, watching car races, enjoying nature, and being with his beloved family. And, in the end, being with family was what mattered most to him. Armand is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Whitman, brother Robert Whitman, children, Merrell, Felicia, David, and Danielle, and many grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Friday April 1, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with funeral services starting at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Seffner Cemetery.
