It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Carzis on November 1, 2024, at the age of 79. Barbara was born on October 14,1945 in South Plainfield, where she was raised by Agnes and Frank Przewoznik along with her five siblings. She raised children of her own, Michelle Terhune and John “Anthony” Sisco in South Plainfield before welcoming her youngest, Heather Carzis Schuster, and moving to Barnegat. It was in 1981 that she relocated to Florida where she spent the better part of her years and where she met her partner, Frederick Landry. Barbara loved the shore and lighthouse. She enjoyed visits to New Jersey to visit family and even moved back to Barnegat for just one year, 2022, to be closer to her extended family before Florida called both her and Fred back home to the sunshine.
Barbara was known for her strong will, never ending determination, and immense love she had for her family and friends. Barbara blessed her friends and family with her amazing cooking, crafty abilities, and penchant for organizing events and gatherings. She was a skilled seamstress who used her talents to create garments, home goods, and hand crafted collectibles as the owner of Barbara Carzis Creations. When Barbara was not creating tangible items, she was busy creating memories with her many grand and great grandkids. She reveled in all things “Mema, Gigi, and Grandma”.
Barbara’s love for her friends and family could be seen in how she spent time with them. She adored her evening neighborhood walks with her friend, Maria, and enjoyed swimming and relaxing in the pool with her partner, Fred; daughter Heather; and grandson Corbin. While she was still able to, she also enjoyed attending craft festivals, motorcycle events, and music venues where she could sing and dance with friends and visiting family. Her life was filled with so many loved ones. You could say, “She never met a stranger!” because she made friends everywhere she went.
Ms. Carzis is predeceased by her father Frank Przewoznik; her sisters Joyce Przewoznik and Francis Przewoznik Epps; her granddaughter Jessica.
She is survived by her partner Frederick Landry Jr.; mother, Agnes Przewoznik; brother Frank Przewoznik; sisters Carol Laicos and Eileen King; son John “Anthony” Sisco; daughters Michelle Terhune and Heather Carzis Schuster, as well as her grandsons Corbin, Jake, Joseph and Anthony; granddaughter Jackie and great grandkids Justin, Bella, William, Mya, Anthony, Amelia, Jade and Logan. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs Mosy and Saint.
We know that Barbara’s passing is sudden and leaves an open place in our hearts. We invite you to join us in fellowship as we celebrate her life with music, stories, and sweets. She LOVED her sweets.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St.Jude Hospital via mail 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
A celebration of life for Barbara will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
