Bessie Jane Swint

Bessie Jane Swint 94 of Riverview Florida, passed away peacefully at home with family on Thursday June 11, 2026. Bessie was born in Carter County, Kentucky on March 5,1932 to Charles and Julia Thomas. Bessie was an 8th grade graduate at a little schoolhouse in Kentucky.

Bessie married Ralph Ellis Swint on October 3, 1955, and together they had eight children, Charles Thomas Swint (deceased), Remondia June Turknett, Robert Lee Swint, Ralph Edward Swint (deceased), Ralph Lyndon Swint, Doris Faye Sisson, Gloria Jane Parker and Tracy Allan Swint and 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She worked in the food industry and was passionate about gardening, and loved bluegill fishing, mowing and cooking. She had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day and enjoyed company of all her grandchildren, family and friends. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially spending time picking fresh strawberries. She loved sharing stories about her life, recounting cherished memories and experiences that brought laughter to those around her. Bessie was also a proud member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Riverview Florida.

Bessie is survived by her children, Remondia June Turknett, Robert Lee Swint, Ralph Lyndon Swint, Doris Faye Sisson, Gloria Jane Parker, Tracy Allan Swint; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Maxine Brown, Raymond Thomas, Elizabeth Hamilton, Thelma Brown, Charlene Wessel, Glen Thomas, George Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Ellis Swint; parents, Charles Thomas and Julia Felty Thomas; children, Charles Thomas, Ralph Edward; siblings, Margaret Arnett, John Thomas, Willy Thomas, Nellie Sexton and Mary Arnett.

Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. at Stowers Funeral Home, 401 West Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, Florida.

A Graveside Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Limona Cemetery, 1698 Limona Road, Brandon, Florida.
