With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Bettie Jean Walker, who left this world on August 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Bettie was a remarkable woman—generous in spirit, strong in character, and full of life. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious personality left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on May 21, 1947, in Marion, Alabama, Bettie was a spirited and adventurous soul from the start. She found her happiest moments outdoors, especially with a fishing rod in hand and the sun shining down. Her love for nature was matched by an even greater love for people. Bettie had a heart that was always open—ready to lend a helping hand, share a home-cooked meal, or simply offer her time and presence to those in need.
She is survived by her devoted children, Delana Michelle Brown and Clarence Anthony Johnson, and a loving extended family. Her siblings include Willie C. (Marvin Edwards), Andrew Fuller (Sharon), Claudia (Otis Wimes), Pauline (Earl Gooden), Shirley Fuller, Addie Fuller, Johnny Fuller (Mary, deceased), Wade Fuller (Rose, deceased), and J.C. Bennett (Linda).
Bettie was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Alberta Barr, Catherine Warren, Jennie Mae, and her brothers, Johnnie A. Fuller, Willie Ed, Jimmy Lee, and David Fuller.
Bettie proudly graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1965. She went on to build a long and dedicated career at General Electric, where she served as a skilled machine operator for more than 30 years. Her work ethic, loyalty, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside her. A gifted cook and baker, Bettie brought people together through food. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and love, where no one ever left hungry. Whether she was preparing a holiday feast or baking cookies "just because," she poured her heart into every dish.
Bettie was baptized early in life, a profound milestone that marked the beginning of her spiritual journey. Though quiet in nature, it stood as a powerful testament to her deep faith and personal renewal. Her unwavering commitment to her beliefs was reflected in every aspect of her life—gracefully lived with kindness, humility, and a heart open to others.
Bettie Jean Walker leaves in her cherished memory two children, Delana Michelle Brown and Clarence Anthony Johnson (Brandi), three grandchildren, Chase Underwood, Shayla Johnson, and Nyla Johnson, and many nieces, nephews, and relatives. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
