Born as To Cheng in the Pu Li township, Taiwan, Betty met her first husband MSgt(r) Gregory Harder, in the Philippines while he served in the U.S. Air Force. After moving to Bangor, Maine the two married in Ware, Massachusetts in 1974. While living in Honolulu, Hawaii they had their two sons. As a military family Betty also lived in Riverside, California, Okinawa, Japan and Tampa, Florida while continuing to work in the service industry and raise her children. It was in California where Betty proudly became an American citizen and adopted her name.
Betty remarried to Jack Esposito in 2002 in an intimate home ceremony in Valrico, Florida where the two lived until her passing. By this time Betty had earned her Cosmetology license and continued to work as a barber until she retired in 2020. Betty was an extremely hard worker and always took pride in everything she did. Betty and Jack created a beautiful life together and enjoyed traveling, creating and maintaining a garden of exotic fruits, vegetables and herbs and spending time cooking with their family and friends. Her greatest passion was creating memories with her grandchildren in the kitchen.
Betty is survived by her husband of 19 years Jack Esposito; her son Scott Harder and his wife Jessica and their children Jacob and Zoe; her son Michael Harder and his wife Angela and their children Blain and Aidan; her stepdaughter Colleen Newman and her husband Bobby and their children Jade, Blane, Peyton and Tenley.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a financial donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.HillsboroMemorial.com for the Esposito family.
