Betty was born in Seattle, Washington on January 28 1957 to Frances and LS Tatum, who was an officer in the United States Army. Betty was a retired Salvation Army Officer and was stationed all over the South in her twenty-five years of service. She met her husband Bruce at a function for Salvation Army Officers and they married whilst both working for the Salvation Army in Atlanta, Georgia. Betty was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and grandma. Although she never had children of her own, she loved being Nana Betty to Bruce’s four grandsons and was loved by them in return. She was an avid crafter and always had a sewing or crochet project on the go. She was passionate about her faith and was active in the women’s ministry at her church.
Betty is survived by her mother, Frances Kirkpatrick Tatum, sisters Julia Presley, Joyce Loveless and Mary Putman and brother George Tatum, all of Florida. She is also survived by her husband, Bruce Williams of Stuarts Draft, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Salvation Army Staunton Corps Family Relief Program.
