Keen, Bobbie Wayne, 61 of Tampa, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, May 9. Bobbie was born in Manatee County on January 28, 1950 and grew up on a truck farm in Wimauma. A graduate of East Bay High School and the University of Tampa, Bobbie spent 31 years as a high school band director. He led the Leto Falcon Band for 20 years and the Plant Panthers for 7 years prior to his retirement in 2004 from Hillsborough County Schools. Bobbie was predeceased by parents Marion and Verda Keen and brothers Earl and Lonnie Keen. Surviving Bobbie is his loving wife, Vivien (Cooper) Keen, son Bobby (Melissa), stepdaughters Stacey Lane (John) and Dana Botner (Phil), grandsons Conner Smith, Colin, and Cole Keen, Bradley and Peyton Lane, and Dale and Colt Botner, brother Donald (Shirley), sisters Helen Rhodes and Geraldine Chancey (Lenard), brother-in-law Dallas Cooper (Anita) and loving nieces and nephews.
Bobbie selflessly invested his own life into the lives of countless students, making a notable impact on multiple generations. Many testimonies have been given by former students and colleagues as to his great influence. His love for his students, teaching, and music was always apparent and has been expressed back to him before and after his death.
Bobbie loved his family beyond measure and is going to be greatly missed by everyone. We love you Bobbie W. Keen and look forward to seeing you in Heaven. Just remember, "Who loves you band?" You do, sir!
