Boua Xa was born on August 17, 1934 in Xiengkhouang, Laos to Wang Doua Vang and Ka Hang. He never attended school but was taught by his parents, family, and close relatives to be a great farmer and blacksmith. He married Phoua Her in 1959. They raised six sons, Chang Dang, Churrva, Fong, Unnamed son, Fu, and David, and four daughters, Zoua, Choua, Shoua, and A. He and his family came to the United States as refugees in 1980 and resettled in Shawano, WI under the sponsorship of Zion Lutheran Church in the care of Bruce and Carol Schmidt.
Boua Xa had a passion for hunting, fishing, blacksmithing, and weaving. He made all kinds of farming tools (hoes, machete knives, sickles, knives, etc.) and weaved baskets, stools, etc. He gifted his creations to family and friends. He was a wise, kind, generous, and compassionate father. He was a great and brave soldier who fought in the French War and Vietnam War (in the Secret War).
Boua Xa was preceded in death by his father, Wang Doua, his mother, Ka, his daughter Zoua, his fourth son and his youngest son, David. He is survived by his wife, Phoua, his seven children, Chang Dang, Choua, Churrva, Shoua, A, Fong, and Fu, his brothers, Nao Tong and Koua, and sisters, Lou (Pai) and Yer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to service, from 9:30 am-12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
