Bruce Anthony De Groot

July 19, 1952January 8, 2021

Bruce De Groot was born July 16, 1952 in Paterson, New Jersey to Garry and Angelina De Groot (nee Barone), joining brother Garry De Groot and followed by sister Lynn Ann De Groot. He left this world on January 8, 2021, aged 68. Bruce graduated in 1969 from the Passaic County Technical and Vocational High School’s four-year course in Plumbing and Heating. He is survived by his first wife, Susan Crum (m. 1972-1991), son Ross Crum De Groot (b. 1981), daughter-in-law Kristen De Groot, wife Carol De Groot (m. 1993), and stepson Jason Cartwright. Passionate about photography, technology, and his faith, he worked part time at Wayne Camera, was a wedding photographer for several years, was a licensed Amateur Extra HAM radio operator, and owned and operated Christian bookstore Kingsway Books in Warwick, New York. He ultimately retired from Nyack Christian College in 2018, where he was affectionally referred to as “dad” by the students, after over 20 years of service as a Plumbing, HVAC, and Networking Technician. He and Carol moved to Florida in 2019. Bruce was a cancer survivor and lived with advanced Parkinson’s Disease in his later years. A lifelong fisherman, he is again able to fish with his pop while he waits patiently for the rest of his family and friends to join him.

Bruce was such a beautiful person. He went fishing just as he went to Paradise with the Lord and lunch of fish just as He cooked outdoors by our Lord and king as He did the disciples This lunch or breakfast was cooked for the disciples before he went to Heaven. It’s in John chapter twenty one and I truly believe this! 🌈❤️ Rejoice! The Lord loves every one of us and is calling us to Him to offer His love to all no matter what race or color ! Put your trust in our Savior and you will be saved. He took all your sins upon the cross. He loves you!

Bruce and Carol were so kind and loving to my mom when they lived in Washingtonville. Even when my mom was in a nursing home on Long Island they traveled to see her. It meant so much to her. Rest In Peace, Bruce. Sincere condolences to all his family. Love to Carol.

I remember all the years in college when Bruce who had no aspirations for college himself, would help me study and prepare for exams. He was a very loving man and one who would always help others.
