Carleen was raised in the close-knit French Catholic community of Madawaska, near the Canadian border of New Brunswick. She was the beloved daughter of her parents and cherished sibling to Theresa, Lionel, Herman, Reginald, and Louis. Carleen received her Catholic education through St. Thomas Aquinas Church and local schools, including Evangeline, Acadia School, and Madawaska High School, where she graduated in 1953.
Carleen began her career at Aetna Life Insurance Co. in Hartford, Connecticut, and later worked for Frasier Paper, H.R. Bunker, the Caribou Chamber of Commerce, and the State of Maine Health and Welfare Division of Child Welfare. After moving to Florida, she worked at K-Mart, Self Service Shoe Store, and J.C. Penney at East Lake Square Mall in Tampa. In 1995, Carleen earned her real estate license and joined her husband in managing their business, Five Star Realty, Inc., in Tampa, Florida.
Carleen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She married her loving husband, Jim, in December 1955, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2015. Jim passed away in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of love and partnership that defined their lives. Carleen and Jim were the proud parents of four children: Dan, Theresa Carleen (who passed away at birth), Gary, and Craig. Her grandchildren, Mark, Ethan, and Elliott Mingle, brought her immense joy.
Carleen was deeply involved in her church, serving as a volunteer and choir member. Her faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her.
Carleen’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and service. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held to honor her life and legacy. Details will be shared with family and friends.
Rest in peace, Carleen. You will forever remain in our hearts.
