PARDUE, Carmen Olive, 74, of Brandon passed away November 6, 2012. She was a lifelong Brandon resident and educator at Cahoon Elementary and Brooker Elementary Schools. She also taught classes at the University of South Florida. Carmen devoted her life to helping others. At a very early age her natural instinct as a caregiver was evident. As a child she helped her mother with her younger siblings as well as helping with household chores. While attending the University of Tampa to earn her BA Degree in Education she worked as her Father’s secretary in his place of business. She knew early on because of her desire to help others and to give of herself that her calling was to be a teacher of young children. While teaching at Cahoon Elementary and Brooker Elementary Schools she earned her Masters of Education Degree from USF. After retirement from the Hillsborough County School System, she returned to the field of Education to share her expertise as a Supervisor of Interns at the University of South Florida until her second retirement in 2009. Her devotion to her family, friends, colleagues and students was unparalleled. She had an innate ability to know the right thing to say when asked for advice and her home was always open to family, friends and neighbors. She cared deeply for her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren and saw that their needs were always met. We are all grateful that she was a part of our lives. The love she shared and expressed will never be lost but will always be a part of all who knew her. Carmen's legacy is her selfless devotion to family and her giving spirit to all. Mrs. Pardue is survived by her husband, David; sons, David Karl Pardue and Kevin Lawrence Pardue (Cheri); two grandchildren, Brianna and Jadin; brothers, Philip K. Caltagirone (Mary Anne) and James Anthony Caltagirone (Cheryl); and sister, Joan Kutch (John). The family will receive friends noon-2 p.m., with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2012 at Stowers Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
