wife, Frances, of nearly 70 years, and his five children. Charles met and married Frances in 1950 at
Sangley Point, Philippines while serving in the Navy. He was assigned to a Communication Group aboard the USS Missouri called to fight in the Korean War. He also served in an intelligence agency in Washington DC and met regularly with both Presidents Eisenhower and Truman to deliver top secret documents. After his Naval service ended, he moved back to his hometown of Quincy FL, where he raised his family. In 1967 he moved to Brandon FL. taking a job with Lykes Bros Corp, as the shipping supervisor. He retired after 27 years. After retirement he served Nativity Catholic Church as an usher, in the food pantry, and in the Men’s
Club.
He is survived by his wife, Saria Frances. His children Saria Garvy, Ben Wells (Kathy), Tom Wells (Jann),
Harrell Wells (Eileen) and Deborah Slowey (Dan). His grandchildren Steven Hollash (Melissa), Michael
Hollash (Tiffany), Ashley Coons (Ray), Kalie Beans (Josh), Austin Wells and Danielle Slowey. His great
grandchildren Sam Wells and Savannah Conklin. His sister, Sally Gay (Kenneth).
