Cleveland Llewellyn Walker, 95, of Brandon entered into rest April 17, 2019. He was born on December 14, 1923 in Camaguey Cuba, to Nathan and Adella Walker. He was the second of two children one sister.
He migrated to Kingston, Jamaica with his family at age 12. He joined the Jamaican Army and traveled to various countries in the West indies and South America, after completing his tour of duty he married love of his life Ruby Smellie in 1951 at St. Annes Catholic Church in Kingston Jamaica. Within their union they had five children. He attended Aviation School in Jamaica and received a degree in Engineering. He worked at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica as Supervisor Aviation Specialist. In 1967 he migrated to the United States with his family after receiving a transfer to work at JFK Airport in Queens, N.Y. He lived in Brooklyn where he bought his first house in America then relocated to his second house in Queens, N.Y. After working 15 years at JFK Airport he decided to work for the New York City Transit Department were he retired after 25 years of service. He relocated to Brandon, Florida with his family in 1986 and open Cauldron Restaurant in Ybor City with his family as the original owners of the restaurant.
He was a devoted husband and father, a good provider for his children, and a disciplinarian. He believed in having a good education and to be the best you can be. He enjoyed working in his garden and taking care of his beloved dog, Molly, he enjoyed gospel, and classical music. He was a hard worker and never
complained. He also enjoyed going to church and was loved by everyone. He will surely be missed but I know he is in heaven with his beloved wife and daughter.
He is survived by daughters, Maureen Beckford, Sharon Dunbar; sons, Harvey Walker and Stuart Walker; grandchildren, Fernando, Raimond and Alex Braithwaite, Orlando Beckford, Jamila, Shani and Lamar Dunbar, Shelley, Gregory and Brittany Walker and Courtney Walker; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Ruby Walker, Maxine Braithwaite, Byron Beckford, Mavis Miller and Nathan and Adella Walker.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. Peter Calver Catholic Church, 1203 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa. Interment to follow in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30-11 a.m.
