Cynthia Richards Bell

August 16, 1955July 17, 2020

Cynthia Bell passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 in Brandon, FL. She was born on August 16, 1955 in Ottawa, Illinois. She was a graduate of Winter Park High School in Florida and was a member of the 1977 class of Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.

A wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she quietly and courageously battled juvenile diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and other medical challenges throughout her adult life while she raised her family with loving devotion. She will be remembered by her friends and family for many things: her laughter and sense of humor, her love of orchids, music, the arts, and of all life. She was a thoughtful and loving soul who was genuinely concerned with the well being of others and those less fortunate.

She was predeceased by her mother, Marilyn Jane Richards; her father, William Sweda; her stepfather, Donald Richards, and her older brother, Christopher Richards. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Bell of Brandon; her daughter Audrey Louise Bell; her son, Michael William Bell; her sister, Corey Richards Wood; her brother, Curtis Richards; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is not planned at this time due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider making a memorial contribution to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org) or the Tampa Theatre Foundation (tampatheatre.org).

Cyndi, my dear dorm sister, you were a force of nature and a fascinating lady to hang with.
Generous, thoughtful, kind, and not afraid of her JD...met it head-on daily. You will be sorely missed!
Deep Condolences To John, daughter Audrey, son Michael, her sister Corey and brother Curtis and all her grandchildren.
Cyndi & I shared the same summer birthday, except I was 3 years older. I had a feeling she was a Leo like me when we met, and I look forward to the day we all meet in heaven. Rest now. God’s blessings.

I was so saddened to hear of Cyndi's passing. John, Audrey, Michael, Corey, and Curtis: You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Cyndi was an exceptional person who was given a heavy burden to carry beginning at a very young age. I always marveled at her ability to embrace life and take the good with the bad days when they came her way.
I am especially saddened that she didn't get the chance to enjoy her new grandbaby. I hope you all are comforted by knowing that she is with her loving parents and big brother, Chris. Heaven has gained a true angel. With love to you all, Wendy Richards

Through great sadness in my heart I will treasure my sister forever! I Thank God we had 61 years together. Sharing a bedroom while growing up; going to school together; dancing ballet together are some of my charished memories of my sister. I always looked up to her & wanted to be just like her! And though we fussed while growing up, thoughts of those times bring a big smile to my face! Not only were we sisters but over the years we became very close friends. I miss her! And I am a bit jealous as I know she is in the very Best & Most Beautiful place anyone could ever be, Heaven! I know we will be together again for all Eternity!
